If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. GV80 and G80 Software update

I used the Navigation Updater program on my PC, which is how the update is supplied in the US. Once you install the Navigation Updater on your PC the program downloads the update, formats the USB stick and copies the files to the USB stick. Requires zero technical knowledge or ability. Is this option (available from Official Genesis Navigation Update Website) not available in Canada for some weird reason?
I'm in Canada and downloaded the update and installed it successfully. That being said I don't see any difference or improvement,

I am from Canada, I updated my GV80 Prestige navigation software yesterday morning. I used my Apple computer and downloaded the new program directly to the USB stick. When you are about to load the program the Genesis app asks you, 1/ What vehicle, 2/ What country. It takes about 40+ minutes to load to the USB stick. You then take the stick to your GV80, 1/ start the vehicle, 2/ push "Setup" button, 3/ General, 4/ I then inserted the USB stick, 5/ scrolled down to "Update", and away it goes.. Don't shut off vehicle, to me it seems like it took an hour to complete.
Caution, when the update first starts, it seems like nothing is happening, be patient it seems like it took 20 minutes before anything changed on the nav screen. But then you could see the %%% progress, I think it took an hour in total, I am not positive but it took a long time.
A feature I didn't know existed appeared on the 3D screen, if you just let the vehicle idle while it is updating or just idling in park, after approximately 10-20 minutes a "Timer" pops up (where the tach is located) and a count down begins. I didn't pay close attention to the starting minutes, but I think around 30-35 minutes. The vehicle will shut itself off when timer gets to zero.
I started to worry the vehicle would shut off before app was fully installed. By touching the brake pedal cancels the timer, but it will start again after 10-20 minutes.
A feature I found by accident. But when app is finished everything goes back to normal..
Did I notice any updates or changes??, not really, maybe someone knows the changes, if so, please let us all know..

There might not be any visible changes, the update could have been stability related. I have had the infotainment restart of it's own volition once in the three months I have the car, so hopefully there was some software flaw. Otherwise I have a hardware issue

Approximately one hour...with the engine running? Ugh, that sounds dismal unless I guess you timed it to coincide with a long drive.

Hmmm...wonder if we could start the upload with the engine on, then switch off the engine and hook a slow trickle charger up to the battery leads (accessible under the floor of the rear cargo space) to avoid discharging the battery. That’d be a far more efficient, less expensive (fuel-wise), and environmentally friendly method, assuming the upload keeps going after the engine is switched off...as long as the battery voltage is kept sufficiently high.

How can you be sure that it will stay in the accessory position and not time out? In theory, it is possible to brick the headunit if it powers off in the middle of the update. Is it worth that risk to save a gallon or less of gasoline?

If you shut it off you risk it shutting down mid loading. Not worth the risk. You will probably burn 16 to 20 ounces of fuel. I'd not do it to save 50 cents in gas.

Yeah, all fair points. I concede.

So what’s the point of the auto engine stop/start feature — if it doesn’t appreciably reduce fuel consumption, is it just meant to reduce tailpipe emissions when idling?

My update took 47 minutes start to finish. No noticeable changes but the version numbers. There is no way I would risk turning off the engine. Just make sure you open the garage door during the update! :D

The start/stop saves gas under some conditions. Here in FL many of the lights tend to be longer than what I saw in CT or PA. If you drive enough in traffic it may give you a boost but if you hit few lights, it would be really tiny. I think it is mostly grasping for straws to meet EPA standards.

Has anyone found the change log? I've seen Hyundai publish this sometimes for their branded cars.

I ran 90% of the update with the ignition on and engine off. I started it out of concern because there isn't a way to monitor the battery voltage through the car. I had no issue starting the car after so I think it would have made it all the way w/o issue.

I finally got the update to load on my 3rd try. Formatting the usb to exfat as members had suggested did the trick. It did take about 45 minutes for the update to complete. I cannot confirm any or notice any differences. I was tired of sitting in the car for that long. I will play around with it later.

I successfully dowloaded the file to a new USB Drive, when I navigate to the software update menu, the upgrade button is grayed out. (My version is an older rev). Any advice?
We picked up the GV80 this week and asked the Hyundai dealer to upgrade the software, they said it was done. Incompetent....
Our currently installed version...

Thanks

I have not updated my nav and mine says the same as yours with the exception of the update date is 12/05/20 which was 11 days before I took possession of the car. I forgot to see if it would let me update it.

If you scroll to the UPDATE button will it highlight it then? Or if you press it does anything happen?

It does highlight when pressed but nothing happens, no indication the upgrade process has started.

Huh? Where is the update?

It's not listed on the Canadian update site.
I downloaded the Navigation update tool and it only shows the November 2020 update....
