  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi Guys?? Does anyone know what would be the best inexpensive most effective DIY scan tool or OBD2 reader for a 2014 or 2013 5.0 R Spec V8 Sedan??? It's too many on the market like on Amazon I am totally confused in terms of choice I need one that can give me the most reading like SRS Engine and Transmission codes without spending a fortune Any helpful advice is gracefully appreciated

Hi Ken, I have tried few of those over the years and found ‘Blue Driver’ to be the most comprehensive OBDII module around, not only it can accurately reads and able to clear most, if not all subsystems error codes, it can also suggest the required replacement item(s) directly on Amazon as well as the exact procedure required for potential repairs.
IMHO they have the most comprehensive database around and keep the module relevant by continually upgrading the firmware without requiring a hardware replacement .
Best of all they charge a single flat fee of just under $100, without the need for all that subscription nonsense.
I bought mine almost six years ago and it still works like a champ.

Do you have an android based phone or an iPhone?
I use Android, bought an app called "Torque Pro" for $5 and a bluetooth OBDII (ELM327) adapter for $20. That's all you need. Rev and some other apps are available on the Apple store but will also require an OBD II adapter.
I've been able to see codes from when my car was built (they were never cleared). I can check transmission temperature as well. Not sure about Airbag errors though (I don't have any errors). More expensive dedicated OBD II readers may give more info, but torque does so much, I really find it irreplaceable (such as a dash cam with gauge overlays, 0-60, 1/8, 1/4, 60-0, emissions readiness, data logging, graphing etc etc).

I have the older version of this:

I got it a few years back to work on my daughter's 2012 Sonata. It's been very useful. It reads all the modules and allows you to set actuators and reset SRS and bleed ABS and that sort of stuff. I really wish it supported the 2018 G80 that I have now. (I haven't tried it yet, but there is no official support for the Genesis brand that I can see.) It mostly works on my Cadenza, but it does not find 100% of the modules like it does on the Sonata.

As a matter of fact I had ordered something similar from Amazon yesterday but unfortunately once they started stating that I had to pay an undisclosed fee to someone else again I canceled my order I didn't have the full facts that it would be just 20 then 5 bucks
