  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Front license plate mounting

I’ve never run front plates and only been hassled once way back in high school. Have found as I got older, was never an issue. I do keep the plate within reach so if I see lights behind me the plate will be upon my dash before the cop gets to me. Some smooth talking about front plate mount got broke and new one is being shipped from Korea should avert a ticket unless the cop is just a prixk.
I like that. parts being shipped from Korea lol will take a while

I have my front plate mounted on the tow hook. I initially bought this mount from Cravenspeed but it didn't fit at all. It was way too far to the left and was hitting the bumper. I emailed them and they essentially shipped me the 2020 Kia Soul one (I know, it's odd) but this one fits much better. They also sent an extension arm so I could mount it more to the left. My G70 has the sensors in the front so this mount doesn't interfere with those anymore. They also sent a shorter tow hook bolt so the plate doesn't stick out as much with the larger bolt. It took some back and forth with emailing them but they were more than happy to make it work. The build quality on this mount is very good too. It's solid.

I've had the same for almost a couple years now.

I just ordered the TĒGO Automotive Products low profile version to try out. I'm hoping it won't interfere with splash guard removal for oil changes, if it does I won't be using it....

^^ Let us know how it goes!

Why in the HELL doesn't Genesis provide front plate mounting capabilities?

I've just got my 2022 and picked up the Cravenspeed mount. Installed it and the parking sensor above it is NOT happy. Was that your experience, as well? How does the Kia Soul mount differ?

Thanks for any info.

They do. Mine's on the OEM bracket that came with the car. Dealer didn't install it because some folks don't like it there, for whatever reason. I got no problem with it. The OEM location is in front of the internal bumper, so it is not blocking any airflow to radiator above or intercooler below. The two screw holes are on the black plastic, so it's not like it on nicely painted bumper (like on Stinger).

But to each his own.

Got my Cravenspeed Platypus mounted on my 2022 G70. Initially, it set off the parking sensor, but I angled the top back ever so slightly. I mean SLIGHTLY and it stopped. Much better than the buck tooth look of it centered in the grill.

Are you guys saying that Genesis doesn't make or provide a front license plate bracket for the G70?
Sounds like it. After a google search I found a lot of aftermarket brackets and the only website that looked official was genesispartsandaccessories.com and they DO NOT offer brackets.
I do if it’s for the license plate to go on front
IJL that my state (NV) only requires a front plate if the manufacturer produces brackets. And I just bought a bracket from eBay but I think I’d rather not have one.

There's no way I'm installing any bracket on my G70. It'd not only look hideous, but also block cooling for the radiators. Hope I never get a ticket, but rather deal with that. Ha ha.

Assuming your not a teenager for I think cops pick on the younger crowd easier, you will probably be fine not having your front plate on. I know we are supposed to run one in Texas but I never have. Never had an issue and don’t do stupid stuff to give a cop a reason to pull me over. There is always risks though we are inviting a conversation with the Man but I think it’s small. Cops generally have better things to do than hassle with no front plate. Over 40 years driving and I live in a small town right adjacent to another small town and surrounded by a big town. Small towns are known for speed traps and dick-head cops and I’ve had no issues. With a one sq mile town I see my cops daily. Also see many other vehicles with no front plate so we are not alone here.

You won't get far in NH without a front plate. 🙄 (or an inspection sticker that's out of date by a month. Crazy.)

Hitting on 61 here, so far from a teenager. Ha ha. And locally I never get harassed by cops for lack of front plate. Where I always get harassed is on the highway, by troopers, who seem not having anything better to do than that. Ha ha. So now when I see one, I just don't pass them, to avoid wasting even more time getting pulled over. Never a ticket so far, but lots of wasted time checking me out, and giving me warnings. I don't have any warnings on my current 2 vehicles, so that's good. Ha ha.

Sounds similar to New Jersey.
Same thing in MA, but I don't run a front plate and drive past the state police barracks 2-4x/day. I just do the speed limit and stay off the accelerator to keep them from having a reason. They also speed trap 2 miles from my house but just don't seem to care about pulling people over that aren't being assholes. The ones that do stare look like they are mostly just trying to figure out what the car is. Most people still aren't aware of what a G70 is.

Good point !
They are so curious about the car , they don't notice that little stuff.
