  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

OK before I take this car in for service can someone explain this. When launching this 2015 Genesis 5.0 Sedan with both traction control and stability control Disabled or Enabled this car cannot burn rubber in fact it becomes a dangerous 5400 LBS sled. Let me explain. I slam on the throttle and this happens seems like the fuel is temporarily cut off and a split second later launches like a bat out of hell but that split seconds that it hesitates has caused me to almost have an accident many times. I can understand uncontrollable wheel spin for the ECU to take over but not even brake lose a tire and the ECU panics. What is going on here? Even my old 225HP 5.0 Lincoln MarkVII could spin a wheel now an then.

The factory throttle response is very flat by design at low rpms it seems. My 2015 5.0 did the same thing no matter how fast or hard you press the gas pedal regardless of drive mode. It will bog down and then gain speed as the rpm rise.

My solution was to buy a Sprint Booster and now my car moves off the line like a true 400hp sedan. However, even with the Sprint Booster flooring the gas pedal still evoke some delay in throttle response.

I have discovered that you only have to press the gas pedal halfway with the Sprint Booster to gain near instant response from the throttle pedal. Therefore, it seems that the throttle-by wire system in our cars do not like WOT (full pedal presses)at low rpms.

The Sprint Booster provides a strong throttle voltage without flooring the gas pedal which seems to trick the system in to letting the car accelerate better at low rpms without interference.

If you know it is going to happen you are taking a chance over and over. Perhaps you should review your driving habits.

You can't turn off the nannies man.
Even with traction and stability "off," it's still on. I think the only way to properly disable it is to pull the fuses for the ABS system. And then that's dangerous and is a surefire way to burn through $300+ tires.

What's wrong with leaving traction etc on and just flooring it?
I have a very satisfactory "rear end wiggling" when I pour on the beans.

It's not taking a chance by ignorance and "Thanks" my driving habits are just fine I do not need a lesson on driving habits I need assitance to see if my car is behaving abnormally and if not it will save me a trip to the dealership. If I need to get off the start to avoid a collision or accelerate quickly once I have launched to avoid again a collision I wanted to know if it's the car characteristics. Fist car from a long list that I have owned that behaves this way. Thanks for the answers addressing the technical side of things and to Markymark my intention by saying it behaves the same either traction/stability on or off was so that members would comment knowing all the modes I'm testing. Good for you and the wiggling with pouring the beans its seems my Genesis never had hers. :)

I can get the occasional "chirp" w/ my 5.0 without too much trouble - but seriously, I'd probably have to change my shorts if I ever got my 4600 lbs of Genesis even close to sideways. It's just not it's thing.

Never once in my thirty two years of driving have I had to launch off the line to avoid a collision...
