In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Apologies if this has been covered before, but I searched extensively and haven't seen a thread with this specific question/issue.... maybe I just wasn't using the right search terms.

I recently had issue with my sunroof not opening/closing. Upon careful inspection, I realized the weather stripe on the roof structure side of the car (on both the passenger and drivers side), ripped, and bunched up preventing the roof from moving freely since it was embedded on the pano sunroof tracks. This is the seal that is actually on the non-movable roof assembly of the car (vs. the actual glass itself - tried to outline it on the picture).

Does anyone have the part number or a recommendation for a weather strip that can be used to replace this? I was able to freely remove and reposition the entire strip from the roof, and reattached it, so these seems like it might be a user serviceable item vs. the seal peel I've seen on the forum which requires a dealer visit.

Thanks in advance!

P.S. The closest thing I could locate is (Hyundai Part No.: 81614-B1000 WEATHERSTRIP-PANORAMAROOF FRAME) but this seems to be the seal around the glass itself, vs. the roof structure.

I'm looking for that part too.. (3.8 - 2015 - Caspian Black - Premium)

My driver's side outer roof seal is ripped starting from the windshield going back toward the middle of the car. On a good windy day, the rubber flaps around and makes a vibrating noise that frustrates me. I have forced thin black rubber strips I had laying around in there to get it to stop vibrating when driving 60+mph

I would like to know the part number as well

Not sure if you had any luck finding the panoramic roof side seals separately, but I did some research and it turns out that the weather strip doesn't seem to be something you can purchase separately, but it comes included as part of the roof's side molding rails. Its Hyundai part no. 81675-B1000 for the left side of the roof, and part no. 81676-B1000 for the right side of the roof.

I went to my Hyundai/Genesis dealer with this issue but they were absolutely (more than) useless and told me the whole roof had to be replaced.... meanwhile I explained all I needed ordered was the side molding. The dealership experience on the Genesis so far has been very poor and the only thing preventing me from putting an order in for a GV80 vs. a X5/X7 which I know has a great servicing arm in my area.

I ended up picking up a pair of the rails on eBay and just swapped the seals out on the existing roof moldings I have which are in great condition; since I didn't want to mess with removing them. The old broken seals came off very easily (Pic #1), and it was just as easy to remove the new seals from the new rails (there is no glue/adhesive to worry about since its held together by friction), and put them in place (Pics 2+3). I used a flathead screw driver to ensure a proper fit and it looks great (Pic #4 of final product).

Hopefully this can help anyone with a similar issue, feel free to message me if you have any specific questions.

I have the same problem, they would have replaced mine, but I had to ship the car to Europe before the warranty work was done. I ordered the part and thinking about swapping the left side molding, but I’m unsure about popping the old molding out. Does the panoramic roof sliding good now for you? Btw thank for the info and pictures, really helpful!!!! I was looking for a post like yours for months.

No problem! I think the great part about this is, if the plastic molding that is on the roof is in good shape, you do not have to remove it. You can just take out the rubber seal from the new part you ordered, remove the old broken seal that is on the car, and swap it. I've attached 2 more pictures to help explain what I mean, but I did not remove the plastic molding at all and just "slid" the new seal into place after removing the old one that was broken.

If you do want to remove the full molding, it is held on by a series of clips as you can see in the second photo that is the backside of the plastic molding. I think if you use a flat head screw driver it should come off easily as long as you're careful not to damage the clips (unless the part you ordered already comes with new ones then you don't have to worry about it). One recommendation - put some tape on the flathead screwdriver to prevent scratching anything. I did not do that myself in this case though, so thats all the information I can provide.

Replacing the seal did fix the first issue I had since the rubber seal didn't get caught up every-time you would open the roof. The sunroof worked well for a few weeks after this, and then one side came "off track" so I will have to see how to fix it once the weather gets warmer.

One other item to note, depending on the age of your car, it might also help to grease the sunroof tracks when you have it open. I used this Lithium grease but anything similar would work depending on what you can find locally. I just put this on the metal track and opened the roof a few times so it spread and it was very smooth after that.

Drop me a message or reply here if you have any other questions once you get the parts and good luck!

Did yours look like this? Super frustrating. Fortunately, I have an appointment tomorrow. This is my replaced sunroof after the rattle issue that most experienced. I've literally opened the sunroof 6 times. My toddler threw up at the doctor's office (on my wife) and we had to open all the windows to get home. Oh how I wish I didn't open the sunroof....

From the picture of it, it looks like your weather strip just shifted out of the plastic mounting rail and bunched up. Mine was in a worse state since it broke itself into 2 pieces, so whenever the roof opened, it would get stuck in the mechanism so had to be completely replaced.

Assuming you don't have any tears in the strip itself, you can easily reset it into its groove in the plastic rail with a flathead screw driver (in case you want to save a ride to the dealership). The rubber seal has no adhesive, and it's held together with friction, so you can push it out with a flathead screw drive and adjust it as needed. The best way I can describe it, is the seal itself is like a "T" shape like I have in the picture in my post above, with the vertical line being the piece that gets pushed into the plastic roof railing that runs along the side.

Once I replaced mine using this method it's been working great ever since. Hope your kid feels better!

Thanks for the advice! I figured there was adhesive and the description of the shape will be helpful as well. I didn't have to chance to look closely at it. However, if there are no tears (after inspection), I'll definitely use a flathead screwdriver the re-adjust / the strip.
