  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

In today’s mail received a recall notice stating a problem may exist with the electronics in the ABS module on the 2015-16 Genesis that could possibly cause a fire hazard and I’ll receive a further letter when a solution is found’ wondering how serious this problem may be, anyone else gotten one of these recently?

There are a few threads about this on here already. Probably don't need any more...

Let’s see now, been driving my Lady for 6 yrs now without a spot of trouble....and now I should worry ? Meh!

Well, I would assume an older ABS module(like in your car) would be the one prone to failure so I would take the recall seriously. Just my opinion.

I'm in Canada and i just recived my first letter about the recall. Waiting for the second letter and the call to bring it in.

Same here. I got my recall notice yesterday in the mail and have to wait for the solution letter to arrive later. This is the oddest recall I have been part of. Car is a fire hazard, but it is safe to drive and there is no official solution for the problem.

Hyundai is really lucky I like my Genesis 5.0; or I would jump ship to another brand.

What brand would you jump to? Could an Accent be in your future?

Accent is a still a Hyundai.:)

I would most likely go with Lexus or even a fully loaded 2020+ Honda Accord Touring which has as much tech as my 2015 Genesis with adaptive suspension, cooled seats and HUD. I see a few Touring models on Auto Trader that is calling my name. However, I just like my Genesis so much that I really do not want to trade it in.

Therefore, I will keep my 5.0 and hopefully the ABS recall will just be a fuse fix that will prevent a fire in case the ABS module does go bad over time. All cars can be subject to recalls, but I do not like ones that can burn down my house.

Here is the Honda Accord I have on my short list of replacement cars in the future. I have never owned a Honda or Acura(very plain cars in the past), but I am liking the newer fully optioned out models avaible now.

I don't know if I would take the Honda as a serious contender in this class. Need to see one in person.
LOL. The Honda Accord is not an actual luxury car that could compete with an Genesis model, but it is a nicely equipped near-luxury car with the touring package that has a lot of premium features you find in a luxury car. The 2020 Honda Accord seems to be competeing more against the newer KIA K5 and Hyundai Sonata models as opposed to the Genesis models.

The 2020 Honda Accord Touring is a nice car, but it is still not a real luxury cruiser like a G80. However, it is still on my watch-list as an replacement for my Genesis if the need arises for me to jump ship.
