  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Why buy a new one? Where do I go elsewhere?

I love my 2015 5.0 Ultimate Genesis. I bought it because it had a 48 valve V-8, with the low rpm "grunt" we all love. This is the "perfect" luxury automobile, IMHO. Hyundai, you should own the luxury car market!

But, sadly, I can't replace it...at least with another Genesis...unless I get an inferior, lower HP, lower torque, V-6. Not gonna do it. Bye-Bye Hyundai.

So, my friends, where do I look elsewhere for a V-8 powered luxury sedan as good as a Hyundai Genesis?

Thanks for your suggestions!

V-8s are going away. Look for a used G80 with the 5.0

Not a chance. It's a 32 valve V8, four per cylinder. I've so far not heard of a six valve per cylinder car...

Close, never made it. Check the head at 9 minutes in

Interesting video.

I am a gear head so I learned a lot from it. My guess why modern 32v V8 engines is the most common design is because many automakers just use two large intake valves and two smaller exhaust valves per cylinder, which probably create as much airflow as multiple smaller intake valves that reduces airflow like addressed in the video.

A few used options are available from Infiniti, Ford, Chevy, and even Lexus that has N/A 32 valve V8 engines aside from the usual German brands.

However, the 5.0 TAU seems to be one of the best made V8 engines on the market that is easy to repair and make respectable power.

Newer non-luxury/sport cars are mainly 4 or 6 cylinders that is usually force inducted to make V8 power, so get used to smaller displacement engines if you buy a car newer than 2020.

Genesis G90 should have the 5.0 for the foreseeable future.

That said, the twin turbo v6 is slightly faster than the 5.0 on all platforms.

You could consider the Chrysler 300. I've driven one, and while I didn't think the driving dynamics or materials quality felt as refined as the Genesis these may vary based on option packages.

Most of the German full-size luxury cars (7 Series, A8, and S-Class) and mid-size performance variants (E63, M5, and RS6) still have V8s, but these are a lot more expensive.
