  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Model Year
2011
Genesis Model Type
1G Genesis Sedan (2009-2014)
I recently purchased a 2011 4.6 Genesis sedan and after a couple weeks of having a car and getting what I think they call is an SCC sensor indication on the dash. The symbol is a little car with a P in it and then for my instants it has a little flash symbol of the left front corner. I was hoping to learn what this means and if it’s a malfunction of some sensors

Sounds like the same mine is doing, cruise module issue.

Smart Cruise Control Module malfunction symbol. It's stated in the owner's manual. It's a Module with a motherboard in it. Problems can range from a simple one problem like:
1) Electrical Connector just being disconnected from unit
2) Water or Debri Damage
3) Front end Collision Damage
4) Wiring Harness Damaged
5) Wrong Part Number Installed
Etc

If it is a symbol with a (P) then it's the electric parking brake.

If this light is on, it's the SCC system.
SCCerror.webp

If BOTH are on, then you have a brake system failure.

Mine is that wonderful bugger.
Well that's a bummer.

There's a host of stuff connected to the SCC system, so it can be anything from a single wheel speed sensor to the HECU to the radar module itself. These faults normally won't throw a CEL through the ECU so cannot be scanned via OBD2. But someone with a Hyundai diagnosis scanner can pull the correct fault code. Otherwise they'll just be firing the parts cannon at it, using your wallet as ammunition.

That is the best line ever!
