A Hyundai First

I take nothing away from the Maxima; they've done a great job with it. I've also owned three previous Nissans, and in fact I stopped in on the Nissan dealership before I decided on the Genesis.

In the end however the Genesis feels more solid. I felt like Hyundai was trying to hit the ball out of the park, and they mostly succeeded. Besides, the Maxima's gas mileage is only slightly better than on the V8 Genesis (1mpg on both)

Although I do like the current rendition of the Maxima, the drive train puts it at a distinct performance disadvantage compared to the Genesis. I also had a '90 Maxima SE...white, w/black dash, and white guages. 5 spd in the floor...a very fast car. I liked the car quite a bit back then, but someone else decided they liked it better and stole it w/about 110K miles on it! When I make a loose comparison between it and the Genny, from what I remember about the Maxima, I like the Genny much better.

I've recently noticed that Nissan's new advertising is comparing their top of line Maxma to the Hyundai Genesis with a starting price of a couple of thousand less. I could be mistaken but this is the first time a major car company has their product against a Hyundai.

Before it's always been the other way around.

Another sign that Hyundai is gaining respect from other companies.

There are other reasons, too...

From the USA Today recently...(the full post is elsewhere on this forum):

"Nissan -- which is simultaneously trying juice sales its current lineup and sell Americans on its upcoming Leaf all-electric ride -- has stolen Hyundai's marketing guru, Joel Ewanick. He'll oversee all marketing for Nissan brand vehicles..."

Guess he brought a few good ideas with him when he left the 'fold'...

Yes!!! I had the same color combo, but mine was 4 speed automatic. It was a fun car to drive, remember they put that sticker on the back passenger window that said 4DSC (4 door sports car). It was a good looking car at the time. What was up with that spoiler, it was some weird foam rubber composite. I had more seat time in that car then any other car I've ever owned. I'm getting a little nostalgic. Tito get me a tissue!
