  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Used G70 value

Property tax on your vehicle? Strange concept. You have to pay that each year? Do you also have property taxes on your house and an income tax on your salary? Texas has property taxes but none of that other nonsense. I appeal my property value yearly, if I had to do that on my cars too, would become a hassle for sure.
Had that in CT. I paid about $600 a year. FL has no car tax, no car inspection, no income tax.

My lease is up in Nov. I do not want to own the car without a warranty.

But my residual is also very low. Plan is to buy it out and immediately sell it to make some $$. I am at 9,500k miles...which is insane for a 2.5 year old car.

Not a fan of the new G70...I would consider the FULL refresh. But that won't be around in time.

Also...because of Covid...I just don't go anywhere.

So I need to find my next car. I would consider the new Kia or Hyundai electrics (I think)...but I think they will get pricey. I might just lease a loaded Sonata...or buy an absolute shitbox until the new G70 comes out.

What would be great is if Geneses could extend my lease by another year (or 2) and also extending the existing full warranty. Not sure if that is even possible.
Is there a high cost of repairs without the warranty? Has anything gone wrong in the time you have owned it?

Then why don’t you want to own it without a warranty?
Scared of the unknown.

And...used car loan rates are stupid high. Better to take a crazy high buyout and get into a cheap lease.

That’s fair. The unknown is always scary. The whole car market right now is nuts.

I have a 2019 3.3 Rwd Sport with 10,700 miles. Been checking Carvana and Vroom every week on what they'd give me. Most recently Caravana offered $34222 while Vroom offered $37800. Vroom's offer is very tempting but not sure what I'd buy to replace it.

Honestly, I've always wanted an Lexus RCF, I know it's a pig but I love the NA V8. I was also watching a video on a 911 Turbo S and the wife said after we pay off our house in a couple years, we can buy one (without having to sell the G70), if I wanted. 😃

Sold my G70 as a dealer trade. New car isn’t here yet so I still have the G70 for the next month while I wait. Prices are so high I got them to agree to lock me into my trade offer even driving for the next month. One thing to consider is the trade in tax credit most of us get. Carvana, vroom offered me a lot but I would have to pay capital gains. Trade in gave me 2.4K tax credit to apply

What did you end up getting?

Subaru Crosstrek sport. Wanted something small, cheap, and functional. Fits the bill, now I can throw my dogs in the back and go fishing with my friends instead of bumming rides constantly. It’s cheap so I won’t worry about keeping it nice, I’m excited to have a car that’s so functional for the type of life I lead now. Love 365 hp RWD but I barely get to use it

Sorry to see you go. Seems like lots of guys leaving the ship.
I've thought about selling, but not sure for what. I get itchy feet after a couple of years.
I've been thinking of maybe selling either the G70 or the wife's CX-5, along with our Tacoma truck and buying a new Rivian R1T. 😯

Very nice.. Although the wife said I could pick up a 911 Turbo S in a couple years, I need something more practical and couldn't see myself spending 100k plus on a car.

Tacoma used truck prices right now are at a premium so a good time to sell if you no longer want it. The Rivian truck, very cool. Saw a special on Apple TV last year on the electric Harley long road tour and they used the Rivian as their support vehicle for the trip. If I was going electric, that truck would be on the top of my list.

Our son works for Rivian too, so we need to be supportive. Wondering what the "family discount" might be, if any. They are testing the hell out of it, seems well thought out.

Yeah, it's true that we could get a premium for our Tacoma right now, something to think about. I always get attached to my vehicles and have trouble pulling the trigger, haha.

Yeah, in that case I typically use the Carvana/Vroom/etc. trade-in offers to negotiate higher trade in from the dealer I'm buying a replacement from. I'll probably sell my second car (Hyundai) to the dealers since we don't use it often with the wife working from home. I'll take an eventual full price tax hit if I rebuy a second vehicle, but I doubt the Hyundai will be worth much if all this low used inventory calms down.

In terms of alternative cars, there are rumors from Lexus fans that they're going to commit more to sportier cars. The success of the new IS and their racing program is driving this. An actual newly designed IS in 2024/2025 seems more likely with better engine options (especially since Toyota hasn't committed to the EV bandwagon yet). And their racing division said a new model is coming in maybe 2023/2024 that actually has racing in its design from the ground up compared to the RC platform.

As of today:
Vroom $38,281
Caravana $33,608
🤔

Vroom in my observation has consistently higher offer for trade ins compared to carvana. The trade off is their customer service which is pretty lacking compared to carvana, so if you run into issues, you will have to do a lot of chasing.

I sold my leased accord to vroom which offered 2k more than carvana and luckily had no problems.

That's what I've been hearing about Vroom and why I'm a little hesitant going with them. If it was the other way around, I'd probably jump on the offer already.

Come to Texas. License plate renewal at $70.00 and state inspection at $38.50 is annual fee for one car. No income tax though. My property tax and school taxes are just over $5k. Texas gets us there. I’ve ridden my Harley thru the Carolina’s, beautiful to ride thru on two wheels.

Annual property tax on real estate? Yes. Income tax on various sources of income? Yes. Annual tax on vehicles payable with annual license plate renewal? Yes. Sales tax? Yes, 8% (some exemptions).
North Carolina.
Lol, stay in NC, it is a beautiful driver's state (TOFTD etc.,) with all those great roads and mountains and national / state parks. Roads and bridges are generally in great repair, you have great schools, great work opportunities that are varied, and a ton of great universities. Universities are enormous income increasers and job providers, they are population generators and community shapers, they bring high tech and the arts to areas that otherwise would not have them. NC has loads, many of them top of the class. They are also harbingers of increasing standards of living. Plus, a beautiful coastline. Man, I would love to live in NC.
