  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Been looking in both the owner's manual and service manual and couldn't find the engine ideling speed on a 3.8L.

Anyone here knows where to get hold of it?

They used to have it in the owner's manual, at least in the TG Azera I owned...

I also struggled to see documentation in the owner or service manuals on what the value should be. I think in service manuals, Engine Control - Fuel System page 4

Idle Speed (rpm)A/C OFFNeutral, N, P-range 600 ± 100
D-range 550 ± 100
A/C ONNeutral, N, P-range 600 ± 100
D-range 550 ± 100

2015 3.8 Ultimate
With an OBDII Bluetooth adapter and the Torque application I show between 545-560 rpm, in Drive, a/c on auto, at operating temp if that helps.

That is consistent with my observation of the tack in two different cars with the 3.8

Thanks. Appreciate the help.

Thanks. Appreciate the help.

My engine seems to be vibrating when the idling goes down to 550rpm while on A/C and in D-range.

Anyone here knows if the rpm can be adjusted?

My dealership seems to think it cannot be done.

Probably have to go into the computer program. No idle screw like on carburetors.

Nirmal idle RPM should be about 650 or so in my 3.8.

If it goes below and vibrates, make sure the manifold intake valves are free of or clean from carbon deposits which could affect the idle. Also make sure the throttle body and air intake system are clean.

Good luck
