  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Please be patient with me. Perhaps it was covered elsewhere, but I'll ask anyway. I just received my wings for my 3.6/Tech 18" wheels. I notice there is a notch at bottom edge of disc. Would I be correct in assuming that I have the same notch on car, that I will have to pry it loose with a small flathead screwdriver? Then what? On the back of the emblem there's what looks like a wire spring, do I have to pay special attention to that?

As for the steering wheel, I guess I just peel off the wrap and stick it right on top of the flying H.

Would appreciate all advice, sarcasm accepted as well.

By wings I assume you mean the hub caps? If so, look on the back - there is a raised image of a valve stem with an arrow. Align the arrow with the valve stem on your wheel and the cap will be lined up correctly.

Use a flat head screw driver to remove the old H logo caps.

Line up the stem press the cap into the opening the springs will hold it in place.

The winged steering wheel cap does just peal and press over the flying H. If I remember correctly it comes with an additional double sided tape that I did not use.

Thank you, Dg More and Fiat; the simplicity of your advice gave me the courage to put them on. So I did, and they are gorgeous. It was so easy that at first I thought I did something wrong. Thanks again.

First, don't use any old flat head screwdriver. The sharp edges can cut through the alloy rim finish. In the trunk, under the liner, there is a tool for removing the caps. It has more rounded edges on it's blade so it is less likely to damage the rim.

The most important part of putting on the caps is aligning the tab with the notch in the rim. If you look under the cap, you will see a thin tab. There are two notches in the alloy rim....one is smaller and deeper. You want to place that tab in the thinner notch, then press the rest of the cap on. Once it's lined up a sharp strike with the palm does it nicely. If you don't get the notch in the tab it will bend over and try to eject the cap back off. The dealer replaced my caps and didn't line those up. When I took them off all the tabs were bent over.

I bought the front/rear emblem and the hub caps as a package.
I didn't realize there was a tool to remove the cover, so I had to use a flathead screw driver wrapped in electric tape to keep it from scratching the wheels.
Worked like a charm.
I'm also very happy with the look of the V6 wing caps on my V8 wheels.

That sucks, Disaster.
I'm planning on removing those wheel caps if I ever need to bring the car in for a wheel/tire change, so that they don't destroy it.

Well, I used a bare naked flathead screwdriver and didn't leave a mark. Lining up the notches was by eyesight and went very easy. A couple of fisted knocks and they snapped in perfectly (at least I believe so). Anyone out there who hesitates to DIY, don't be afraid. It's real simple. Again my thanks to all the kind advice. Now, onto the thread about those #@!?<%& blue dots on the navi screen.

To NAVION 49: I purchased them from Ebay, from KDM source. Approx 75.00 US, and it took about 2 weeks to get them up here in Montreal. They're wrapped in bubble envelope and arrived safe. Thats 4 hubcap wings and one steering wheel wing, but you can get them in different combinations.

Jut picked up my 3.6 Premium package last month (considered the tech package but was apprehensive given all of the DIS issues discussed in this forum).

Purchased the 4 wheel caps and airbag badge from the SFR store on Ebay. All in was $74 and product arrived in a bubble wrapped Courier bag with each of the wheel caps in the original Mobis packaging. Just 12 days from order to delivery in Toronto!

Put them on today and what a nice enhancement!! As you did I wrapped a flathead and they were removed without incident.

What a beauty the Genesis is.......crossing my fingers on some of the unfortunate issues others have experienced (most notably the telescopic steering switch), but after the first month everything is wonderful. Hopefully the honeymoon lasts for the life of the car!! ;)
