  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a 2014 equus ultimate, the car started loosing power, jerking and damn near slamming into park while driving down the highway, It was very scary. I took it to the dealer and was told my transmission was going bad, the tech reset the computer and said if it does it again I will need a new transmission at a cost of $5500.00. WOW. The car ran fine for about 2 weeks then it started screwing up again. It didn’t make since because the transmission wasn’t slipping or anything that you would normally expect when the transmission is going out. The day I was having it towed the the shop to have a new transmission installed the battery was acting like it was dead but the crazy thing was if I slammed the drivers door the car would start. No it wasn’t a loose battery cable.. some of the electronics would work but other wouldn’t. To make a long story short, it seemed more like the security system was compromised and possibly creating some of the problem. So I changed key fobs to see if it would make a difference. Needless to say, it made all the difference in the world. Somehow the fob that was used all the time lost it’s programming. Once I started using the new fob I haven’t had any more issues with the transmission or anything at all. The car has been running completely fine for the past 6 months. No transmission needed. I wonder how many people have replaced their transmission because it was recommended but it only needed a fully functional key fob. The dealer never called me back when I called this to their attention. Be careful before you take the advice from the dealer….

Wow, quite a story. I can imagine spending $5500 and having the problem come back from a bad fob. Good that you thought to try a different one.

Somehow I think this story is complete horse excrement. But I digress.

Cool. Wrong forum.

Why because a gensis had an issue or because the dealer was wrong? Fan boy alert.

Because he does not have a GV70 and this is a GV70 forum. There is a forum here for the 2014 Equus that he does have.

He mentions the exact model he has in the post. Are you implying that his post is fake simply because he posted in the wrong forum?

Are you delusional?
Seriously.
I said nothing at all about fake. I said that post #4 was indicating that the OP had posted in the wrong forum. He didn't say anything about it being "fake" or otherwise invalid. It is best to post in the correct forum, as the owners of similar cars are more likely to see it, and they may benefit the most from knowing his experience. Otherwise, why do we have separate forums?

Seriously dude. Did you read my post and the post to which I replied? Reading comprehension is not your forte.

I assume you were replying to post #4, and then to post #6, which you even quoted.
Why would you assume that my post 5 was replying to post 4. I actually quoted post 3. Are you blind?

Possibly. I have no post #3.

Does anybody really believe that a 2014 key fob caused these problems? If so, I have the Tooth Fairy standing by.
