  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My car is developing a new issue. Since 2 weeks ago the transmission is acting up.
When it is time to shift it jerks and slams to the next gear. It used to be buttery smooth.
I send it to the dealership this morning. They did a fluid change for me about 2 month ago. I was thinking it is related to the fluid change.
I got a call from them. They said Hyundai issued a new service bulletin in July about this problem. They said it is exactly what you are experiencing.
Since my car is out of warranty they are going to call Hyundai and see if they are going to cover it.

Does anybody here have access to that service bulletin?

That definitely should be goodwill.

You can access the TSB and repair manuals from the Hyundai service website for a fee.

They quoted me $1300 to fix it. They said we have to change a Solenoid inside the transmission. I asked them to send me a copy of service Bulletin. They sent me this:

Crap!!! I may have to swap my solenoids when I drop the transmission pan at 100k miles to stay ahead of this problem.

I hope not. That would be an expensice adventure. Maybe check if Endurance service contract would cover this...

My aftermarket extended warranty coverage will be over about time my car reach 100k miles at the rate I am driving my car. Therefore, after 100k miles, I will be on my own in terms of repairs. Furthermore, my car does not have an transmission issue now; so the warranty will not fix it as a precaution. In fact the transmisison shift buttery smooth after my recent fluid change.

My car is six years old and I only have about 77k miles on it. My warranty coverage is 4 year/100k miles from the purchase date in 2018.

Anyone know the VIN range for this TSB, or have the full TSB doc? Looked but could not find it yet.

Update on my car, The car is still in the dealership after 12 days. They said it will be ready next week. They said the repair is difficult and takes more time which is hard to believe.

From what I read the job does requires the transmission pan and valve body to be removed to access the solenoids and harness. So pretty complex job. The extra time is mostly likely due to waiting on parts from Korea to arrive by mail.
