  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey all,
I just bought a 2022 3.3 RWD in Siberian Ice. This is my first Genesis. I've owned a TON of different cars (my wife says it's better than changing women all the time). It's been mostly German stuff. Porsche is my real love. I have an older 911, so I needed something that was good practical, but fun transportation. Genesis has been killing it for the last few years and really got on my radar with the release of the GV80. We looked at one hard, but it was ultimately just too small. But I knew that I'd be looking for a DD soon and the G70 was on my short list.

Anyway- I should be picking up the car tomorrow. Pics will follow. The first thing I want to do is change out wheels. I HATE black wheels. So recommendations on sizing, brands, and dealers would be appreciated. I've spent years building up that kind of knowledge in the Porsche world- it feels weird to start over. But that's why I am here. Can't wait to get to know you all.

Scott

Welcome!

My wheels are black, Scott. ;) ...ha ha, all good. Everyone has different taste! I've seem some amazing silver wheels on these cars too!

I'm a big Porsche fan too but have never owned one.

If you got the Sport…the wheels are not black. Dark yes…but match the rest of the trim. Give it a chance.

If non-Sport…wheels are silver.

Welcome…congrats…and enjoy. Trust me you will!!

I think you are thinking about the pre-refresh wheels. The five-spoke dark grey wheels, right? I actually kinda like those. Mine are the ones pictured above. They come on the post-refresh Sports. They look gloss black to me. I'm not a fan. Either way- I'll know for sure tomorrow. Fortunately, the new car euphoria will get me through long enough to go to something else. :)

This is my current one. It's definitely a trip back in time. Feels NOTHING like anything on the road today.

What are some of your favorite Porsches?

And yeah... I actually really like the 10 spoke silver wheels that come on the non-sport cars. Tried to get the dealer to trade a set out for me. That was a no-go. LOL

Yeah…not black. A polished gray if you will. I have those (different style) with Siberian Ice as well. The Sport trim (grill, window trim, etc) matches the wheels…awesome.

But to each his own. I have a funny feeling you’ll love them ;)

^ too add…

Although they are dark…they are reflective and pick up colors around them. Not your typical blacked out rim. I think they’re sexy as F.

Awesome P btw.

Let's put it this way.. the only Porsche I don't like is the 944.

Lol- I've got it so bad, I've had TWO 944s (An S and a Turbo- I really regret getting rid of the Turbo). My first Porsche was a super-ratty 914. That car cost me way more in ownership than it did to buy it. But they got progressively better over time.

The only ones I've actively stayed away from are the first gen 924 (from the 70s, not the later 924S) and the first gen Cayenne.

Anyway, enough about Porsche - I could go on all day. Let's talk Genesis. I see you have a few mods. I am going to assume you are running aftermarket wheels. What size? Who is this Lozic that you have an ECU from? I've never heard of them.

Yeah, I'd replace those too. There are a ton of good looking silver and grey wheels out there.
Nice Targa.

I've been thinking (still, haha) about the Konig Rennform wheels, which are under 20lbs!

Stock 18" wheels Plasti-Dipped black. I plan to have them powder coated this winter when my winters go on. Lozic is a tuner based in South Korea. Super guy and great tunes. He runs a racing team out there and has a dyno/tuning service. He even has a semi truck with a dyno installed so he can travel and tune. He actually tunes everything from Ferrari's to tractors. Awesome

Haha. I think they would look nice on my Black Forest Green Design edition. I might stick with the 18x8 size to keep the weight down. The idea of getting rid of the equivalent of a couple of three pound sledges on each wheel is very attractive to me. Hard to believe that ditching that much bouncing, rotating, unsprung weight wouldn't make a difference (I know this has been debated in another thread). "Add lightness", Colin Chapman. 😊
