  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2015, purchased used Jan. 2018, rear passenger door lock issue, drivers side. Dealer broke sun shade, window, door panel in attempt to repair actuator? They will pay for window and screen, actuator covered by Portfolio $3,695 ext. service contract. I have to pay for the door they broke while it sits waiting in shop for 3 more plus days. I need to file a complaint with Hyundai manufacturer$37743 later +?
This is not good, I am upset!

You are asking a question about the dealer breaking the shade, window, door panel. How should we know?

Did they break the door? Or do you mean the actuator? Seems that for $37743.00 you could get a new car. I understand something is broken, you car is stuck in the shop, but it is not clear what your complaint it. If you do file a complaint you will get better results if you are clear and concise stating the facts.

In an effort to correct the locked door problem, Dealer broke the window, the sun shield and the door panel. I should pay $1399 for the door panel they broke trying to fix the actuator?
That is my gripe. Hyundai manufacturer needs to know they have an issue correcting the lock issue and the Dealer Techs. Need to consult with them on how to replace without breaking window, sun shield and panel. That is all. How can I reach out to the manufacturer about their defective components? Easy answer. They need to know. If you don’t have a contact number, don’t bother responding.
Thanks.

It seems like the "defect" here is the so call mechanic that broke all those things trying to do a normal repair. Your problem is with that dealership, not Hyundai. No, you shouldn't be paying for the door trim panel, unless there is more that you haven't told here.

I don't have a contact but will reply anyway. You first post made no sense. This one sort of does.

I'm assuming to get to the actuator they had to go through the panel, difficult, possibly impossible with the door locked in the closed position. If the door was opened from the inside, then I see no reason to damage anything. More information needed.

It seems you may have a legitimate complaint with the dealer if incompetency is the cause of the damage. There may even be a small claims court situation here but not enough information to determine.

Have you discussed this with the dealer? Did they give an explanation?

I'm not trying to be a hard ass, but to get satisfaction you have to lay out the case exactly and factually and without emotion. especially anger.

Yes, if the door was stuck closed, that would change my answer. In that case, I do think that the trim panel is on you, though they should have warned you about that upfront.

Good news is a junkyard panel should be $300 or less
