  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I don't know how to begin to describe the problem. Basically, the keyfob sometimes could lock or unlock the doors as expected but most times the driver-side door's lock won't respond! Meaning the driver side decides to stay as is in its current state.

The button on the handle has the same effect.

So, when I cannot get it to unlock, I use the physical key; Or to get it to lock, I manually flip the button in the door's inside and slam the door.

I cannot figure out the pattern when it works and when it decides to stop working!!!

Is it a problem with the physical mechanic of the lock?

Or, some sort of error in the software logics?

Anyone got this problem? How would I go about fixing this? Thank you so much.

That sounds like a mechanical problem with the latch assembly on that door. It could be as simple as the assembly just needs to be cleaned and lubricated, or it could be that the assembly needs to be replaced.

Door lock solenoids fail.

If the driver's door is the only one that is not physically unlocking, but all other doors function normally, then look to the solenoid and related wiring.

Does it use solenoids instead of motors/servos? I had assumed it was motors like most other cars now, due to the sound and speed. The few (very few?) cars that still use solenoids move the locks very quickly with a comparatively loud clunk sound.

Isnt it the Actuator you are looking for?
....
For most cars now, the actuator is a non-separable part of the door latch assembly. It seems like this is true for this car too, looking at the pictures in your links.

I had this issue with the passenger front door. It would occasionally not lock or unlock randomly. I ended up replacing the locking mechanical assembly and this fixed the issue.

Before you decide to attempt the repair yourself or not: I would consider myself to be very mechanically inclined, I have never taken a car to the dealership for repairs ever in my life unless it was to just diagnose an issue I could not figure out so I could then fix it myself. I have done this on a few different vehicles over the years, as well as a few window regulators etc, no problem. Most things I've fixed on the Genesis have been suspiciously easy. This however was WAAAAAY more complicated than any other car I've done, just a warning. I MAY have been missing something or have been trying to remove parts incorrectly but I couldn't for the life of me get the locking mechanism out without removing the window motor and glass. I accidentally dropped the window glass into the door which scratched my window tint. I was getting so angry I almost threw the glass out into the driveway lmao! I eventually got everything back together, the new locking assembly installed and my window re-tinted and it has not failed again since, problem solved, lessons learned, woohoo!

Anyone have any luck finding this part? I need Dorman 937-037 and now cannot seem to find this part....
