  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Test drove 2019 G70 yesterday. Sunroof button has to be held? No Dynamic Bending Light? :(

Test drove a 2019 G70 2.0 Advanced yesterday but it had most of the top trim features including the 360 camera ("Surround View Monitor"), Heads Up Display, all the nannies, etc. I was surprised to see these two missing features. Are they available in a higher 2.0 or 3.3 trim and/or perhaps not equipped on this particular 2.0?
  1. The sunroof button had to be held when opening and closing it. All of my non-luxury cars with sunroofs have always had a press-release button to open it.
  2. The lack of Adaptive Headlights (which Hyundai calls "Dynamic Bending Lights") was a bummer. I didn't see it listed in the official brochures either. What's weird is IIHS listed "Yes" to Curve Adaptive headlights: 2019 Genesis G70 4-door sedan
I also test drove a 2018 G80 3.3T Sport, too, but it has such a different driving profile (much heavier car that's more luxury and less sporty). Subjectively, the G80 interior also feels a tad dated whereas the G70 felt cleaner and more modern. Conversely, the G70 definitely felt less luxurious, but absolutely more sporty.

P.S. I know these are small nitpicks but important given these are expensive vehicles!

I haven't opened the sunroof on a 2.0 but you don't need to press and hold it on the 3.3. I doubt the 2.0 and 3.3 have different buttons for the sunroof so this should apply for the 2.0 too.

There's two levels to the button, similar to your window buttons. Press a bit harder and you should feel a second click. At that point it'll open the rest of the way itself.

OP here. I'm an idiot. It looks like the higher trims (Elite, Prestige, Sport) do come with the Adaptive Headlights/Dynamic Bending Lights.

My 2019 Sport 3.3TT most definitely has the adaptive headlights. I never use the moonroof so I can't say for certain but I'm pretty darn sure it'll auto open.
You're pretty much spot on regarding G70 vs G80 sport. Both great cars but the G80 doesn't really have the fun factor and feels a bit dated inside. Great cruiser though and I still think it's a good looking car.

Sunroof operation is the same across all Hyundai/Genesis products. It's 1-touch. Quick press and be done with it.

Push button rearward with a quick motion till you fell the click and release. Done. Same for forward.

Your comment on the sunroof is interesting. I purchased a 2021 G70 two months ago. The sunroof failed and the dealership installed a new one. Now the button has to be held when opening and closing.

Check your owner's manual on how to reset the switch to operate with one touch.

Thank you. I'm in the market now seriously looking at G70 3.3Ts. Is there a visual cue or indicator where I can look at a listing and see if it has the adaptive headlights (where the headlights turn swivel left or right as you turn the wheel)?

  • I think only the Prestige and Sport trims have this feature but it's hard to tell based on car listings since trims aren't always clearly stated.
  • I test drove a 3.3T recently that had the higher end features like the Heads Up Display and the diamond quilted seats BUT I couldn't tell that its headlights swiveled. It led me to believe it wasn't Prestige or Sport trims.

Per the Dynamic Headlights:
I’ve had them and I’m not impressed.

I’D RATHER HSVE CORNERING LIGHTS. (Not the same as Dynamic Lights). Best ones I’ve ever had were on my 98 and 02 Continentals. My Tour-X also has them but not as good as my previous Continentals listed above. (My G80 does not have them either)

What's the difference between dynamic lights and cornering lights?

The dynamic lights swivel in the direction that you're turning. Seems like the same thing to me.

Or are you saying they're not as effective as the lights on your 98 and 02 Continentals?

Mine swivel (2019 3.3 elite) and they work really, really well. Cornering lights are for when you are taking an actual left or right onto a dark side street where you can't see that extreme left or right side, headlights can't illuminate that. That's what cornering lights are for. Not the same thing. My 2015 GTI had swiveling and auto-leveling lights for dark country roads, and also had cornering lights for taking those dark lefts and rights. They would only illuminate when I was below 20 miles an hour and turned hard left or right.

My 2019 Prestige/Sport/Dynamic goes through a self-test upon start-up that moves the headlights up and down and side to side. I assume if it does that it must have adaptive headlights.

My 2021 Cadillac XT5 has that and they are a very nice aid.

Yes.

Don't forget that you can also push the sunroof button upwards and have the glass tilt but not slide. Push again to return to closed.

The pre-refresh had this option in NA? Wish they kept it in the refresh.

P.S I'd rather have at least the cornering lights as well. Miss that feature along with ambient lighting like my Golf R had.
