  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Model Type
1G Genesis Sedan (2009-2014)
Anthracite metallic plastidip. I know it doesn't match the vinyl I did on the bumper strips on the side. I started using 3M vinyl but realized the front grille is really impossible to wrap.

Going to spray those with this too. Anything chrome will be plastidipped. Doing my OEM wheels too for the winter.

Maybe lightly smoked headlights and tail lights too.

Where did you get the wheels? Were those stock and are they the same size as a 2011 4.6?

Yeah, I looked into it and saw that they're different size than my '11 4.6 wheels. I like the look of them and I could play around with the sizing and tire aspect ratio so I wouldn't have to recalibrate the spedometer if I were to find a set for not too much. My wheels have some scarring (from the previous owner) and I've considered media blasting them and powder coating them. My only concern is the center cap not matching, so I may look into plastidipping both the wheels and center caps.

I had my car painted due to love bugs. Live in Florida. Destroyed the paint on the front bumper. I decided to delete most of the chrome after I saw this post. Also changed lower grill accents . View attachment 25214
Those love bugs are no joke on a car’s paint. Make sure you wax it and use Motul bug spray to get them off.

These take so long to do.

Please let us know how difficult /not difficult it is to remove the plastidip from the wheels when you take on that project - maybe a vid. Thanks!

Started on the door handles yesterday.
Getting cold here in the Northeast. Gotta pull out the garage heater soon to finish up.

Yes my front bumper on my black 2012 sedan looks awful. Can it be buffed out? Is there a product on the market I could buy? Do I need to get it repainted? It’s a shame because the rest of the cars paint is cherry.

Probably can't be buffed out, depends on the damage. Are they rock chips, swirls, ???

I have one chip on one of the silver grill slats. The big issue is the Florida Love Bugs. I’d like to avoid having the bumper re-painted, the rest of the car in/out is flawless and these bug marks are driving me nuts. I’m open to any and all suggestions. Thanks.

Personally, I'd have it repainted then put this new grill on:

Start with the least $$$ option.
Get a clay pad like the one below and using some very soapy water or clay bar lube try to see if the marks come off.

That is a FANTASTIC idea. I will definitely give it a try.

The clay bar did the trick! Thanks again for the suggestion. It worked so well I did my entire Genny and then treated her to a good wax. My car has never been smoother or so shiny.
