  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Model Year
2012
Genesis Model Type
1G Genesis Sedan (2009-2014)
I have a 2012 Hyundai Genesis 4.6. My problem is pretty simple. Im having a hard time playing music from my phone via bluetooth connectivity. It works fine when im placing calls or answering them but as far as playing music I can't get that category on my screen. Any suggestions??

That particular year doesn't have the ability to stream music, just phone calls.
On a positive note, the bluetooth codecs would be super old and make the music sound like trash anyway. You can get a nice bluetooh receiver and hook it into the car via the AUX cord, then just connect to the DAC via Bluetooth.
I have a 2013 that can stream music, but it sounds like garbage due to the low bit rate of the old Bluetooth so I do what I described above.

This is the DAC I use, it supports as close to lossless streaming as possible.

I have an android not an iphone but the guy above us who responded said that year & version of the genesis wasnt equipped to play music. It was only to make calls

I use one of these.
Same one I use with no problems. It’s small and nestles right into the USB and the Aux jacks

I have a 2012 3.8 sedan. I listen to Spotify via Bluetooth everyday, works great!

Yes it’s an iPhone XR. It pairs automatically when I get in my car. I can make receive phone calls no problem at all. When I want to losttto Spotify, I simply hit CD/AI on the car radio. It will then play thri car sound system.
Yeah i have an android. It pairs with the phone to make calls but I can't play any music. My girlfriend has the same Iphone you have though so I'll try again with her's.

The 2012 4.6 is a Tech trim car with the 17 speaker Lexicon sound system. It cannot play music over bluetooth. It can only make calls. If you want to listen to music via bluetooth, you need a 3rd party adapter like the one in post #7 above.
