  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Help!! I have 4.6 09 sedan. Why after 5-10 min does my battery turn on. Therefore, disabling useful things such as my rear window defroster and heated seats (I reside in MN, these things are necessary!!). Is this a bad relay or fuse? Is it the one on the connection at the battery. There are two types of fuses located here. I can test one and have replaced the other. Still nothing changed this. Also have replaced both battery and alternator this current year. Ideas?

Welcome. Moving this discussion to the proper section...

Why after 5-10 min does my battery turn on.
What does this mean? Are you saying after 5-10 min your alternator is no longer working? Because your battery only works during the initial start up, than you alternator takes over.

Have you tested your alternator and battery (also load tested)?

Corrected my grammatical mistakes.

Thanks!

Red dashboard battery light is 99.9% of the time a bad alternator or bad voltage regulator (i.e. also bad alternator).

Test your alternator and battery.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Most auto parts stores can test your charging system on the vehicle very easily and usually free. Most alternators have the voltage regulator built in so if any charge issue are seen, just get a new alternator. OEMs are really expensive and plenty of after market alternators are available with decent warranties. I had a warranty issue with a Rock Auto alternator for a Civic and they did a warranty exchange for me very easy.
