  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Both cars 2021 fully loaded.
Car A. one has 10k miles priced at 48k
Car B. the other brand new priced at 52k with 7k discounts “45k”

I can try to leverage Car B against Car A to see if the price will lower to 43k. 60 months finance
or Attack Car B. 72 months finance

big question is buying new worth it when you get the complimentary services vs depreciation?

Factor in the warranty. How long will you keep it? New gets 10/100 powertrain, used gets 5/60.

I was told that as long as you buy from used from a Genesis/Hyundai dealer the original warranty stays. When I bought my original Genesis in 2012 that was the case and I kept that car until 99,999 miles and traded it.

As part of the Genesis Certified Pre-Owned program, your Certified Genesis will come with 6 Years and up to 75,000 Miles of Limited Warranty as well as inheriting the original 10 Years and up to 100,000 Miles of Powertrain Limited Warranty.

That is the only reason to consider Car A in this scenario. Options are getting thin here in Florida if you are looking for the 3.3T Sport, but I also understand patience is key right now.

I would get that in writing. Google tells me this:

What is Hyundai second owner warranty?
The answer is yes!

The vehicle must be sold within the coverage period of its 10-Year/100,000-mile limited powertrain warranty coverage. The second owner receives much of the same coverage, and it lasts up to 5-years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first.

Always get anything a dealer says in writing.

So I got clarification. It has to be certified from the dealer. That is a catch because they like to take on that certification fee. Now sometimes that fee is less than the extended warranty so it just depends on the dealer.

I just got a call for Car A and let them know about Car B. So I asked them to provide a preliminary OTD price with my trade. Let's see if they want to play ball. Leesburg is a nice 1 1/2 hr trip that I don't want to make if there is no way we will get close.

I rather travel down towards the Sarasota area as it is a nicer drive and more to do LOL.

Yeah I wouldn't even bother with car A to be honest.

if car b is cheaper than car a, why are you even dealing with car a?

Well I think the intent is to try and get Car A for 43K.

Even if you get it for $43K, if you can get the new one for $45, that's a better deal. You'll get the full warranty, like has been discussed, plus it has 10,000 less miles. That would be worth 2 grand to me.

Just putting this out there.
My situation 5 months ago: 2021 Red 3.3T Sport with 2,100 miles for $43,900 (sticker was $52,945). It was a dealer loaner car and came with a CPO warranty, which is 6 yr/75k b2b and 10yr/100k powertrain. I would consider myself the first owner and I love the car.

I think that I would have gone with the deal you took too. $9K less with full manufacturer warranty and only 2K miles. However, $2K less for questionable warranty and 10K miles does not sound like a good deal to me.

Actually if you're buying from a Genesis/Hyundai dealer you can pay a small fee and have it certified (sometimes dealers include this and is already added to the price if they advertise it as a CPO) but this gives the 2nd owner the remainder of BOTH the 10/100 powertrain AND the 5/60 bumper to bumper.

Any idea of the cost?
$500 ish (not positive on Genesis because I bought both mine new) is the standard to certify most manufacturers. I worked for Hyundai for 6 years but now I've worked at Chevy for 6 years. Hyundai and Chevy are $499. I've owned a 17 G80 and now own a 19 G70. I have quite a few friends working at Genesis so I'll find a firm answer tomorrow and post.

Thanks, close enough. Not a bad deal for the extra warranty time.

Well I am having trouble with both dealers getting me numbers before traveling over a hour to visit. As long as it’s not a bait and switch I will be perusing the new car for 45k

otherwise I will continue looking for a reasonable deal elsewhere.

I was at the VW dealer servicing my car and he told me as well about paying a couple hundred to get whatever car I buy certified if buying used from a Hyunda/genesis dealer. He says you have to ask they won’t always offer.

Makes sense now that I didn't get any feed back off of Car A. It was sold. (oh well)

Found a 2019 Fully loaded Santiago silver with 22k for 38K and a 2019 Fully loaded Casablanca white with 16k for 42k

prices seem to be all over the place depending on the location.

The search continues......

I haven't bought since Covid hit.
Are you guys seeing this reconditioning fee? This was a firm heck no for me. This would be closer to what I would have expected from the new 2021.
