  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Today marks my one month anniversary with my car, and I can't stop feeling the pride of ownership. I just finished washing the car for the third time with addition of using once the Liquid Glass. After parking the car in the garage (I live in a condo) I just stopped about 20 feet away and just stood and admired both my effort and shining car. Now my problem,.... I have the winged emblem on trunk, hubcaps and steering wheel (don't want the hood) and I'm kind of sad that I haven't anymore adornments to apply. Any suggestions? Oh, I also have had at purchase applied the 3M plastic bra on hood, grill, mirrors and front part of rear fenders. And have I told you that lately........

Hey, get on board with me on this one - how about a very classy looking steering wheel: http://www.koreanautoimports.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=31_237_239&products_id=3506 . Every time I look at the price I say "no way" but then I start thinking about it some more... I just haven't quite come up with a convincing rationalization (safer steering? safer in case of collision? something to hold onto during hard turning? a sturdy grip aid for getting in/out of the car?) These are all a little flimsy, but I'm still working on it.

Actually I kind of like the all leather steering wheel. After 5 years with my ES330 partial wooden wheel, I like the feel of this one, more sporty.

My suggestion is to leave it alone. The Genesis, like a Ferrari or Bentley, is a work of art. The wing badges are good -- and I agree that it is better to leave the wings off the hood -- but adding a bunch of junk like custom wheels, spoilers, neon lighting, etc. is like trying to "improve" the Mona Lisa or putting tattoos on Brooke Shields' face.

If it's already beautiful, leave it alone. :(

Can't disagree with you at all. I guess I just want to put the car up on a pedestal and admire the darn thing all day (night too). If I get bored, I"ll bring her down to the car wash and give it another cleaning.

Sounds like you're on your honeymoon!

Sometimes when I'm approaching my car in a parking lot, I slow down and take time to admire the beauty of the Genesis. I like to look around at other good cars and compare them to my Genesis. The Genesis always comes out ahead.

There was a Mercedes S550 in a parking garage where I was today, and I noticed the similarity in the designs of the rear ends. So I pulled up next to it and took the attached picture. Since I was in an underground garage, the light is bad, but you should be able to notice the similarity in design to the $120k S550. Actually, I think the Genesis rear is better looking.

The tail lights are much more similar to a BMW.

My suggestion is remove the GENESIS lettering off the trunk. Looks cleaner without it.

Well Jack, I wash mine way too often and just can't get over the quality/value/looks of mine either. I did one more thing which will be the last to my Genny yesterday which was to do a full lighting conversion to led. Trunk, map, glove, licence, plate, etc. Looks killer and now matches the led stock dome light. Here is where I ordered from and shipping is from Toronto so you get it in a couple of days. Cheers. http://www.lightdepot.ca/

Yes, the tail lights are similar to a BMW, but the overall look and especially the trunk lid look more like a Mercedes.

There is no question in my mind that the Genesis rear is better looking than the BMW you posted.

Now this sounds interesting. Who did the installation? I've got 23 years on you and wouldn't trust myself to start pulling apart the car. And can you tell me which pieces you ordered?

do they have a kit assembled for the genesis? if not, which bulbs need to be ordered?
tks JNP

Oldtimer-
Like you i bought the car and fell in love too. I no longer sleep with my wife and moved out to the garage where I set up a twin bed against the bumper. Everynight I kiss my tail light and talk to her until I can fall asleep. I'm in love again--

Please be damn careful of the tailpipes.......

Now I'm really considering removing the Genesis from trunk. Since dealer removed the flying H prior to delivery, I'm not sure how to remove. Would it be the same as on video? Using a hair dryer, heat up the area and using the dental floss slowly and carefully? And then the Goo Off for any residual gum?

Trunk lettering comes off very easily - easier than the H emblem. Warm up a bit with hair dryer (or park in sun for a while). Then use dental floss or nylon line with a sawing motion and they'll pop right off. Clean up afterward with some solvent (I use Oil-Flo, but Goof-Off or equivalent will work) and then put a little wax or spray detailer on the area and you'll never know they were there.

I live up in Blainville. If you feel up to it. I will order all the required lights and install them for you for free. All you need to do is set it up with me and pay me cost for the bulbs and it's a done deal.
