  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

The rubber trunk latch cover has split. Does anyone have experience with replacing this part, Hyundai 81248-B1000 ? The part is available but is it something a DIYer can replace? Would a shop manual help?
Thanks in advance!

Same thing happened to mine! I suspect that, like some other rubber parts in this vehicle, they are underdesigned for the Florida heat.

I would also like to replace it, but only if it is relatively easy to do. If I need to take apart too much stuff, then forget it.

I have the same problem.

I recently received a letter from Hyundai saying there will be a recall fix for the ABS so I'll probably have them fix the cover at the same time.

My 2015 trunk latch rubber cover just tore. Has anyone replaced it as a diy job?

I found a related thread here with instructions. Search on trunk latch.

This may help as well. Its looks like you may only have to remove the tailgate garnish and pop out the camera/trunk switch unit.

Probably the trunk handle piece under the rubber cover which may have fell out if the rubber cover is missing or torn.

You may only have to buy the rubber handle cover and replaced the white handle that fell out if it is not broken.

Here is the part.

I don't understand the question. The part number is given in the very first post in this thread, 81248-B1000.
Google it and it will find several sources for it, from $12 before shipping and on up.
If you'd rather, you can get it for $40 from Amazon, shipping included.

Thank you. I have the part but now I seem to be having difficulty removing the old part?I tried to insert a screwdriver on the side but it doesn't release or move the part Any suggestions on tools or how to proceed?

releasing the clips is a bit tricky. look at the diy threads for guidance.
