  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What's the width of G70 from mirror to mirror?

Hi everyone, this is my first post here, I am interested in the G70 but I have a fairly small garage with 91'' opening (measured from the weather seals). Can someone measure yours from mirror to mirror? Thanks!

It's gonna be tight. 73 inches without the mirrors. Mirrors fold but they still protrude 3 inches, at least, on each side. So that means you have like 5 inches on each side..... You gonna be able to open the doors?

I hope he means the garage walls are further apart and that only the door frame is the narrow measurement. What car parks there now? And how do you park it?

Yes there is plenty of room inside the garage but the garage door is the standard 8 feet. Right now I have a Subaru Legacy with 81.5'' from mirror to mirror (width w/o mirrors is 71.7'', vs 73 for the G70). I have no trouble with this car, in fact once I got a newer Legacy as a loaner, that one was 72.4'' wide (I didn't measure mirror to mirror) and it was fine too but just had to be more careful. I am going to look for a garage door contractor to see if there is a way to widen the door by another inch or two.

I am also interested in the GV70 but since it's not out yet, do you think it's going to be wider than the G70?

When folded the mirrors probably protrude an inch beyond the width of the car. It's not much.

Thanks, just want to have someone with a tape measure to do a mirror to mirror measurement. This way I will be more confident when visiting the dealership.

For about the same cost you can get another 12" or more. Anything more that taking off some trim is going to be expensive.

The contractor reported back to me and said there's no way to make the door opening any wider based on the photos I sent.

Of course there is, but would be very expensive and somewhat major work. You have to cut out a porion of the wall on both sides, change the header, etc. Could easily be $10k or more.

Yes, and also have to deal with concrete foundation, a lot of work!

How easy is it to have the mirrors folded before entering the garage? Does it involve many steps to scroll through the menu to find that option?

It is button/switch where the mirror adjustment is on the driver door panel. Easy Breezy. I use mine when I go through car washes.

So if one was to fold the mirrors in and put the vehicle into reverse, do you lose the overhead view? Do you lose any ability to back out of the garage without the traditional sideview mirrors?

On the G80 anyway, the overhead view still functions with the mirrors folded, but the sides of that view are pretty messed up (front and back is still good).
