  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

We live in an area that does not have any local luxury car dealerships - the nearest ones are over an hour away. After having to navigate that nightmare for warranty work, etc. on our Land Rover, when the time came and we had to replace that vehicle (due to it being totaled in a wreck) we ended up at a LOCAL Hyundai/Genesis dealership looking at a new 2022 GV70. Expensive, but we loved the car, LOVED the fact that it could be serviced locally and would not require the dreaded 1-1.5 hour trips one way for warranty work, or the complimentary service for 3 years that was promised. So instead of replacing our Land Rover, with a Land Rover, or Jaguar, or Porsche, or ANYTHING else (Because we didn't want to have to make that drive if there was warranty work/repairs that needed to be done) we bought the GV70 - mostly because it was local. LITERALLY 3 months after we purchase this vehicle and it is time for the first complimentary oil change, we find out that our local Hyundai/Genesis dealership NO LONGER is a valid Genesis dealership and they can do NOTHING for us!! They tell me "so sorry, we would not build a multi-million dollar facility for a stand alone Genesis dealership, so they pulled our "license"", if you will. "They took all of the new cars, parts, computers, etc. and they are done". Even though Hyundai OWNS Genesis, this dealership is out. They supposedly even had to go somewhere else in town to get the oil filter for my brand new Genesis so they could do the oil change for me - which they did comp. out of the goodness of their hearts because supposedly they don't have to honor the 3 year complimentary oil changes since they are no longer a Genesis dealer. My frustration is this - we would 100% NOT have purchased that car if we knew we were not going to be able to get it serviced locally. If we were going to have drive that far we could have purchased ANY make and model car! And the closest stores will NOT do a valet service because we are too far away. If anyone has any thoughts or suggestions on what we should do, I would appreciate it! Thank you!

Hopefully you aren't going to need to do anything but the scheduled oil changes, which any Genesis Dealer will do. I have 20K on my GV80 and it hasn't required any repairs. Oh, and my 'local' Dealer is 75 minutes away and will come and get my car for Service.

Thanks, and I hope you are right - however so far our new "local" dealers have said NO to coming and getting the car - hopefully that will change!

My purchasing dealer probably 6+ months after my purchase shut his Genesis dealer down too so your not alone. At least in my case DFW has multiple dealers within 45 minutes of me so not a huge issue just yet. I never planned on using the free oil change service anyway, just warranty work when needed and so far nothing needed.

Hyundai or Genesis dealers?

Good chance you can sell it for what you paid for it or more…that’s what I would do. And I would do it fast because with interest rates going up and student loan payments restarting, the days of the used cars retaining or gaining value are fading imo.
