  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I now have my siberian ice 3.3 t sport. Beautiful finish; beautiful colour.

I've been doing a lot of research regarding paint protective film, either 3M or Xcel, as well as ceramic coating. Stupid question? Do you put the protective paint film on first and then the ceramic, or the ceramic and then the paint protection. Number two, what are the essential parts of the car to have done in paint protection film. I'm thinking full hood and front skirting fenders from the windshield/hood down to the wheel well, door cups, sill of the trunk and perhaps the door sills. Please assist? Thank you

You want to PPF first (I recommend the front bumper, entire hood, entire side fenders, "B-pillars,", door cups, rear bumper ledge, and mirrors) and then apply ceramic coating afterward. I also recommend rustproofing/undercoating if you want to keep your car in the best condition or for long term protection (especially if you live in areas where snow and salt are prevalent). PPF the entire hood and side fenders so that the job is seamless, and more importantly you won't see lines that could show dust/dirt by only doing a partial PPF.

Ahh...
My one and only response! Thank you. After some research I am going to go this route. I greatly appreciate your response.

Fyi, I had Stek PPF installed. Xpel brand is just as good (they have a great marketing campaign as a new kid on the block). I had Ceramic Pro applied for my Ceramic coating. Hope this helps.

P.S. if your looking to keep your 2022 G70 for a long time, I would suggest installing a catch can to protect your intake valves from carbon buildup (read and YouTube the topic of you never heard of it). It applies to all GDI engines from my understanding and is agnostic to manufacture. Best wishes!

Does the installation of intake equipment do anything to the Genesis warranty?

Does the installation of intake equipment do anything to the Genesis warranty?

You'll find mixed answers all over the Internet, yes or no to voiding the warranty. I'm not taking chances, so I designed the set up such that when my car goes into Genesis for service, I can quickly disconnect the catch can, and easily reconnect the original line. The reinstall is reverse. If you choose not to install a catch can, your GDI engine intake valves will build up carbon affecting performance and you'll have a massive headache (cost in repairs/cleaning) in the future. In the photo, I've numbered the process to disconnect to catch can. Step 4 (original Genesis PVC line) attaches to the position of step 1 (manifold).

I think I mistook the catch can you were referring to, with cold air intakes

Cold air intakes are cool, but it would likely void warranty (or be an excuse to void it from a manufacture).

Perhaps when the warranty ends, I may go this route. I've installed a cold air intake on my old Civic Si 1997 (25 year old modern classic car) :p

I had my last car professionally done with both ppf (Xpel) then had my interior and exterior opti-coated. From what I remember, the detailer optic coated it first then added the PPF.

I had my full front bumper, hood, side panels and side view mirrors with ppf. My detailer even added some behind the door handles for no extra charge.

It might have been over kill but it was my first really nice brand new car that I purchased myself.

Pretty sure that opticoat really helped keep my leather interior as pristine as it was.

Thank you for all of your responses.

The project is now been completed. I went with Xpel Ultimate on the entire front, full Hood, full front fenders, trunksil, rocker panels, and door cops. Then I had a nano protectant and paint glaze sealant applied. JR's auto detailing in Edmonton did an absolutely superb job!

How much was that for ppf?

The entire ppf I referred to, and the nano coating was $1900
