  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a 2017 G80 5.0 Ultimate, which I adore. I'm looking for a cloth headrest cover that can be removed, washed, and returned to the car.
The problem is the .....interesting.... shape of the headrest.
Does anyone know where I can find such a headrest cover?

Thank You!

I'd ask someone that is good at sewing and making clothing. They make like the challenge.

Only other solution I can think of is to put a plastic grocery bag over uour head so it does not touch. Be sure to cut the eye holes large enough.

How about a knitted ski cap? Or maybe a sailor's cap, either with brim up or down... or a draw string bag?
Small pillowcase?

P.S. After spending some time trying to give aid to one of my Genni Buddies, gave Amazon a looksee for car headrest covers and a bunch popped up. Goog Luck!

I would expect that putting a cover on it will interfere with the anti-whiplash feature where the headrest front pops forward from the back part.

That's not a bad idea, thank you!

Wow, I did not know the headrest did that, thanks for the info. However, the cover I'm imagining would not interfere with any mechanical function nor would it cover the vertical supports or the junction to the seat.

Assuming that it does cover the headrest, it would have to be oversized or very thin for it to not interfere.
This is what it looks like when it activates.

Well that changes things. No way to put a hood over the entire assembly. You can still put a piece of material that drapes over the front but does not cover the seams. Attach at the top with Velcro.

Alternative is to shave your head to minimize what you transfer to the covering. Wipe the back of your head with sanitary wipes when entering.

What color? I bought a set of black covers on Amazon with a wing, looks great.

That's really interesting!
However, my headreset does NOT look like the one pictured. The front of it, the part on which the head actually rests flows below the top of the seat back.
Feel free to laugh at the towel I have wrapped around the drivers headrest.

You see that the front half is leather, and the back half is plastic. The front (leather) half pops away from the back (plastic) half when it deploys. The other headrest would look more similar to yours if it were not deployed.
It's all your choice for sure, I just wanted you to be aware of how it is supposed to work.

I understand. Thanks for pointing the feature out to me.
The headrest I imagine is one with an elastic band that wraps around the back of the leather and juuuuuuuuuuuuust fits. That way if the headrest ever deploys, the forward portion would just pull away and the elastic would stretch to accommodate that action.

Are you looking for a way to keep the headrest clean? If so, just keep a bottle of leather/vinyl cleaner and microfiber towel handy and every now and then clean them off. It should be easy to maintain. Our cars have tan and ivory interiors and no problems maintaining the headrests
