  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I'm a new Genesis owner. I got an amazing deal on a low mileage 2015 AWD Genesis (Parisian Grey!) and jumped on it. My mom was a Hyundai service advisor for 20 years. She passed of cancer last year and finding the car seemed like it was destiny. I drove her back and forth to her chemo in my old 03 Buick Lesebre, and she kept telling me that I needed a new car the whole time, lol.
Unfortunately, I'm having alignment issues with it. It's eating tires like a toddler with a plate of cookies and no supervision. I had an alignment done at my local dealer, but I'm still having a rear end sway, and a pull to my passenger side. With my mom being gone, I don't have anyone to go to for advice. I did read about a Rear Lateral Arm that could cause issues. I'm not completely ignorant about cars, but that's a part I've never heard about (probably because I've been driving an old Buick for 12 years) I would appreciate any advice or feedback anyone could offer. Thank you!

Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing uip. Congratulations on your new Genesis! Sorry to hear about your Mother. I went through that a few years ago..... I'm going to move this post into our second generation Genesis Sedan section, where it should get more exposure for help with your suspension issue...

Has the car had any accident damage? Not sure where you live, but you may need a dedicated alignment shop on this one. The shop should also have Road Force testing, as you may also have rim damage.

I cant help with your problem but if you dont mind, what was the price you paied for your car and what miles does it have? Thanks in advance

It had a clean car fax, so no damage. I took it back and they did another alignment, and balanced the rear tires again. It seems like it's been better, so far. I haven't driven it too much since, though. We all got covid, so we were cooped up at home the last couple of weeks.

It had 28k miles, we paid about 23k after tax, title, and registration. It's just coming up on 45k miles now.

Great price
Yeah, I got really lucky. I'm pretty sure that someone priced it as a rear wheel drive. A lot of Genesis cars are, and there was a discrepancy on the site listing. When I called to confirm the car was AWD, the guy said that it was rear wheel drive, so I had the VIN ran by the Hyundai parts guy my mom worked with and he confirmed it was AWD. It's a pretty cool car, even with the little issue I've had. It has driven better than before, thankfully.

Thats a steal, glad you found such a great car
I was having very very slight vibration too around 75-85 miles/hour and did a balancing on the tires, now that is gone too so probably you'll be all set too after the balance/alignment you did

I ran over what looked like an alternator or a starter motor and did $11K damage to the front end of my 2015 3.8 sedan. A Hyundai dealer did all of the mechanical repairs, but they subcontracted the actual alignment to an alignment specialist. That was five years ago and I'm happy to say that the car has driven just fine and the tire wear has been normal since then. So I agree with the suggestion you have the alignment pros take a look at it.
