  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Retarded ipod Integration for Tech Package - The Best I Can Get

My iPod touch works just fine in my Genesis.

I gave up using my iPod in my Genesis. Too many problems.

I went ahead and bought a 8Gb USB Flash Drive for $20 bucks and I'm now a happy camper.

Shuffling CAN be done for all songs, or particular artists or playlists, but it takes a couple steps:

1) iPod plugged in as usual
2) Select Playlist, Artist, or All Songs from the Genesis DIS AUX menu
3) Pick a song and start playing
4) Go back to the Settings menu and select Shuffle mode

Your Genesis DIS will then shuffle the songs like you'd expect. The back and forward controls on the steering wheel move to the last played song or to the next randomly picked song.

Unfortunately, the DIS can't remember this, so if you exit from the iPod function or turn off the car, you'll have to repeat the above. It's become a morning ritual for me.

I have the 3.8 V6 with all options (Tech Package, etc.)

I just tried this and DIS automatically goes into iPod and not AUX. I have 2010 V6 with Tech package. Is there some trick to get into AUX? I'm using first generation iPod touch.

Your iPod is taking the AUX input; that's the reason you're hearing the iPod starting up in the AUX mode. Pressing the AUX mode button again will put in CD/DVD mode (assuming the '10s work like the '09s).

Sorry I don't understand. I tried every possible combination but can not get AUX menu to come up with the Ipod hooked up. Actually I can't find random song play on CD menu either. I have random disc only.

Are you using the adapter that Hyundai sells for the iPod? I think that's the only way you can see the integration on the DIS. If you have it just plugged into the AUX jack on the console (by the CD loading slot) or the in the center compartment, you won't to be able to control the iPod from the DIS (other than volume).

Thanks for the reply. Yes using the factory cable and plugging it in as shown. The DIS automatically goes to iPod menu which does not have random. Actually I can't even find any setting for random song on the CD menu which only has random CD disk setting. I tried using first generation ipod touch and 5th generation 8g ipod, neither of which does random play.

I have a 2010 with tech and own an Iphone (Ipod). As others have said, it is just simply easier to hook up a USB memory stick with all your MP3's. I leave it in all the time and have no problems, and have random play (which shows as random disk). I only use the Iphone for the bluetooth and find hooking it up to get music playback everytime I get in the car cumbersome. A much cheaper option at $20 than a new Ipod. Granted you do lose display of artist. Just my opinion.
