  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I've had my G70 for a little over a month now and I enjoy it. The one thing I find irksome is having to hit confirm on the infotainment screen every time I start the car. Is there any way to disable this?

Not that I know of. It does go away on it's own after a bit (or you start moving?). I agree it's annoying. I have found the whole interface to be rather slow. It takes a good 20-30 seconds before it sees my music thumb drive.

you dont have to hit confirm; it goes away in a couple seconds

I understand this, however, some times it has still been up after I started driving keeping me from accessing certain features. It would be useful if I could make it never show up again.

Contact your lawyer to get permission from the Genesis lawyers and maybe it can be disabled. It is the result of people that sue for everything.

pretty sure its there legally; but as far as I know theres no way to turn it off permanently

It does seem strange to me that the Koreans, with all their advanced electronic manufacturing, didn't beat the Germans in this department. (Although the Germans charge $$$ extra for many of our standard features.)
I'm not talking about the legal issues obviously, but rather the speed and sophistication of the processor and interface.

I doubt that having it never go off is normal. You should have it looked into by Genesis. That would at least relieve some of your frustration. That’s the best you can do.

Although yes it’s a different model, mine goes off less than about 7 seconds and that’s with my phone and usb connected.

hmm.. it takes no more than 10-20 seconds for the system to auto confirm in the G80, more than enough time for me to put the car in gear, back out of the driveway and start driving.

reverse allows the rear camera to function regardless of the confirm screen, Steering controls allow use of volume or channel changing regardless of the confirm screen, HVAC controls work regardless of the confirm screen..

So I am not seeing what is so important that one can't wait maybe a max of 30 seconds, or how pressing "confirm" is such a huge deal.

But then again I have no empathy for end users that at work that complain about their computers being too slow because it takes 5-7 seconds to load a 250 mb Excel Workbook with 30 sheets and 1000s of calculations and 100s of links to other spreadsheets.

Yes it goes off shortly. If I remember correctly, I had pulled out of my driveway and started driving. I pushed the voice command button on the steering wheel as I wanted to quickly set a destination for the navigation. A message popped saying something along the lines of feature disabled while message is up. I then had to wait for this message to go away and it apparently reset the timer for the confirm message. So yes, 30 seconds is a long time where you aren't completely sure where you are going.

I think your G80 must be different than the G70 with regard to some of these details. On the G70, the car hasn't even gotten around to "recognizing" the audio source yet during the splash screen, so the volume control is irrelevant. Also, since the screen is required to display the HVAC temp setting, you can't adjust the temp during that delay period (or at least you don't know what temp you're setting it to). The lack of a dedicated temp readout is something I miss, since it only shows up when you change the setting.

We all have different priorities. The temp setting would jut be in the way for me. When I lived up north, the winter setting was 70, the summer setting was 72. Since moving south, it has not been off of 72 and probably never will be. Would be nice to be optional in settings to keep everyone happy.

I timed mine this morning and the warning screen disappeared in less than 10 seconds without me needing to touch it

The volume and temp settings on the g80 appear from a drop down at the top of the unit, regardless of the confirm screen.

Like EdP said, never touch it. My HVAC stays on auto 72 year around, The whole point of auto is to maintain the set temp, so if colder than 72 it pushes heat, if hotter it pushes ac.

For me volume is irrelevant as well as the radio severely reduces the volume when in reverse or if the camera are on for any reason and typically I back out my driveway or parking spots so don’t need the radio or volume at that point, and by the time I am moving forward and ready to adjust music/sound whatever, the confirm screen is gone.

I’ve seen this type of thread on many forums for many models over the years, and never understood why it is such a big deal, most vehicles time out after 10-20 seconds and flip to the map or last source.

It’s all about CYA car makers don’t want to be responsible for the idiocy of people. So the disclaimers are there to cover them, they have no way of knowing if it will always be the same driver or a different driver every time the car is started so it shows up at every key cycle.

Up unti now, I have always selected Confirm on startup. However, after reading some of these posts, I decided not to select Con firm and see what happens. Goes off with a few seconds. thus no need to select.

The multiple pages of legal crap won’t stop a good attorney from winning a case. Do any of you even know what the 7 pages of information say? It is worthless and should be disabled.

My understanding was that it's actually just stalling you from using the radio, so that you don't notice the delay in the time it takes the head unit to load.
