  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Possible to Disable Caution Warning when Starting car?

My understanding was that it's actually just stalling you from using the radio, so that you don't notice the delay in the time it takes the head unit to load.
Not true for me. The radio comes up instantly (while that screen is up). If it is set to my USB drive instead, it does take a few seconds for it to start playing, but not as long as it takes the screen to time out. Every car that I have been in with factory navigation, has that legal disclaimer screen. There is some bootleg software to turn it off on some BMWs.

Every Hyundai I have ever been in has that warning, GPS or not. And if I press the ok button to get rid of the message sooner, I still can't use the radio for a few seconds until it finishes booting. Don't get me wrong, it looks booted, but it's very laggy and the buttons don't always work for a few seconds.

I've had my G70 for a little over a month now and I enjoy it. The one thing I find irksome is having to hit confirm on the infotainment screen every time I start the car. Is there any way to disable this?
I totally agree! Yes, it goes away, but not soon enough! WHAT is the point of this???

Possibly part of it is to just display something while it is in the process of booting and can't do much else anyway.

Yeah.. Also legalities?

Lawyers require manufacturers to improve their product until it is useless.

Start car, buckle seat belt, pull out of garage, hit door close button, by then it is gone. You can let it bother you if you choose but try just ignoring it and in a couple of days you won't see it. How much of your life is lost from it?

If I want to use Android Auto to start navigation to a destination or play media, I have to plug in the phone, start the car, wait for the confirm button to become enabled (sometimes instant, sometime 20 seconds) click the confirm button, wait for the car to recognize my device is plugged in(sometimes instant, sometimes 20 seconds, sometimes i have to jiggle the cord) then launch AA and proceed. Having to click confirm and even worse, having to wait to be able to click confirm is more than mildly annoying. I could see this being an issue with boot times for the head unit so they introduce this extra step to mask the issue, but if that's the case, then I hope they refactor to make the startup process smoother.
I'm pretty sure the head unit is slow starting up because of Connected Services, which I want for the phone app and car info (EV), but I don't care about the car showing backgrounds similar to my local weather conditions on my head unit screen.

With my '61 Pontiac I never had to wait. Turn key, start, go. They sure confused things.

You mean this one:

1961 Pontiac Bonneville Sports Coupe 389 Trophy V-8 4-BBL 4-speed

0-60 in 9.3 seconds. But you could drive away quickly. Seriously, cars have changed dramatically. The first car that I actually owned (as opposed to being owned by my father) was a used Mercedes 190D with 240K miles on it. It drove beautifully when cruising. But I used to joke that its 0-60 time was a week and a half. Then I finally looked it up: the official 0-60 time for that vehicle was 26 seconds!

The cars in those days were not finished well. They rattled and floated around corners.

I do wish Pontiac had survived. I always used to think it was the best of GM.

I had the 4 door, but same engine. Bought it sometime in late 60s, it was my third car
