If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Well, I am really pi**ed off. I placed an order with my dealer for a new factory order 2010 4.6 Tech on March 27/10. I just received an e-mail from the dealer after almost 5 weeks saying that the factory has decided to reduce the production of all 2010 Genesis sedan orders in preparation for the 2011's!!!! I have been told that if I want one that I should get one from another dealer somewhere here in Canada. Trouble is there are no 4.6 Techs anywhere in Canada that are Titanium Grey! I have always been a GM guy and I thought I might try Hyundai just for a change. What with all the negative problems and other things being said here on this site about the Genesis coupled with now my order won't be fullfilled, I think I will just go back to GM. Hyundai has some severe communication problems and I think I am happy that the order isn't going to be filled. Too bad, I thought the Genesis was a great looking car and was priced right especially given the standard features it offered.

1. First off, why not just order a 2011?

2. Second, any car manufacturer has to start production of the next year model, early in order for them to be manufactured, shipped, sent to distribution points, shipped to dealers for the introduction. They probably just want to fill out all the "dealer" orders, then switch production to the 2011's.

3. Lastly, I had two bad experiences with ordering cars. One with a GM and the other with a Mopar. NEVER AGAIN. I now only buy from stock. I feel for you wanting that color, but choose another color in stock, or order a 2011.

I don't believe a word you say. You are most likely a troll for GM. Please post your horror stories over on the BMW forum! We just happen to like the car-- And why did you register as owning the car? Please bother someone else--

Dealers cannot order a Genesis from the factory. Hyundai Canada orders them (and decides which colors and package mix to order) based on what they think demand will be for various models and colors, and then makes them available to dealers on some kind allocation system. If Hyundai Canada decided not to order any 4.6 Techs with Titanium Grey, and the dealer cannot persuade them to order one, then you are SOL. The fact that no other dealer in Canada has one with that color should make this obvious.

Mark 88 thx. for your comments. I am aware that dealers cannot place orders on the factory, only Hyundai Canada. My point was that it has been 5 weeks since placing the order and I just now hear that they aren't accepting new orders at the factory? Also, with no Titanium grey in Canada at this time, one would think it is a popular colour and would have more on display at the dealer network. Anyway, it is a moot point now so I will try and move on.

No one should be so naive as to believe everything a dealer tells you. There are two possibilities:

  • The dealer tried to get the color you wanted, but they couldn't. The dealer may have misled you into thinking that they were relatively sure they could get that color when they they really didn't know. Maybe they actually thought they could get that color, and later found out they couldn't.
  • The dealer decided that they don't want to sell you the car, maybe because of the deal they gave you.
Since you say that no other dealer in Canada can get that color for 4.6 Tech, you can draw your own conclusion.

Obviously the dealer have no intentions of selling the car to you for whatever reason.

Please do.
Not sure what "all the negative problems" you're talking about, but if you're going back to whatever product you came from only because a dealer said the factory is reducing '10 production,
the Genesis isn't the car for you.

Judging by your statement about Hyundai based on your limited source, you'll be even more pissed should an issue occur with the car.
Good luck.

You sure smell like a GM troll to me!

You have to be joking about negative comments on the Genesis.

Virtually all the comments are minor in nature here.

My wife was interested in the Chev Camaro until she went to the Camaro discussion website. You should see the Major Major compaints there! (10 pages of
complaints alone ranging from faulty paint to a gallon of water in the muffler!).

I agree with the other posters here. I bought a 2010 4.6 with tech package two weeks ago and in order to close the deal, my dealer was able to find a car in the color of my choice (Cabernet Red Pearl) within minutes by looking through other dealer's inventories. A week later I had my car and it's great. :D

It sounds like the dealer you have been dealing with has not been very forthright with you. My dealer explained to me what others have said here, that Hyundai Canada does the ordering of cars, not individual dealers. If you want a specific package or color that your dealer does not have on his lot, then it has to be transfered from another dealer. In my case, I was willing to pay the extra cost to have the vehicle I wanted transfered (from Saskatchewan!) to Vancouver. I could just as easily have driven away with the white 4.6 that they had on their lot.

I think you are making a mistake to go back to GM but if you can't wait for the car you really want, then maybe it's best you do just that. As for me, I'm enjoying my new ride!

UAW worker possibly?

Boy the Big 3 really hate "right to work" states! I don't know how GM even makes a profit.... especially with the worker pensions in the red.

I doubt that the OP is a troll. A lot of people do not understand that, unlike the big 3 US auto-makers, a customer or even a dealer cannot custom order a Genesis (which is the same situation for many cars made in Asia).
