  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I took my G80 to a local shop in College Station and was disappointed when I got a call from the mechanic saying he had to cut and reweld a piece to make it fit. I suspect the Korean company "SharkRacing" sent me the EU version of the exhaust. Then, a day later I call wondering what is taking so long. I received news that the vacuum system to open and close the exhaust valves is way more complicated to install than advertised, instructions are in Korean, and didn't even come with the proper technology for a proper install. So, what we settled on doing is keeping the valves open at all times unless it is off. He installed a vacuum hose and solenoid in the engine bay to do that. It is very loud but unfortunately kind of resembles a modified Civic with a slightly deeper exhaust tone. I have to say, with blow-off valves, it is a head-turner when you open that throttle. I will try and post a video soon. If someone could, how do you attach a .MOV file?

thank you for your insightful post. I am living outside of Houston and went to a shop that makes custom mufflers. I love the sound of my 2018 G80 sport when standing outside of the vehicle but hate the sound while inside - cabin noise sounds cheap. I was debating on trying the muffler system that you purchased. But on second thought, I may just return to stock.

Any update on exhaust? Upload vid with sound?

I have a custom setup from Houston too, was done by ALS. Magnaflow race series, J-Pipes, Secondary Delete, replaces with vibrant straight through resonators 12-18” I can’t remember.

I love the sound of my ride, it’s very race-oriented, not too loud, zero rasp, and the drone is very manageable and could esssily be eliminated by extending the tips.

I’m considering the shark racing cat back. You have any vids of your custom or recommendations for how to even get started on an exhaust process? Just bought my G80 3.3tt in San Diego. Looking around for shops to do exhaust (also planning on hks spark, racechip gts, and maybe an intake) but haven’t found any good shops yet.

I highly recommend the JB4 instead of race chip, simple DIY and Terry is great to work with on fine tuning the vehicle. I can get some exhaust clips but it’ll be awhile. Currently have a missfire issue due to bad fuel and want to wait out the tank.

Question, was your system H pipe or X pipe?
