  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I thought you'd get a kick out of this thread -- Genesis owners. --- I posted a couple threads on the Lexus Forum about the Genesis. Lots of thin skinned people over there. The Moderator merged the 3 posts into one thread and threatened to close the thread. People just can't take it anymore. I am a Lexus GS350 and ES300 owner. Soon to be a Genesis owner when the 2011s come out.

Enjoy the reading - Lexus Forum - Genesis thread

they'res people that are diehard whatever, but in the long run, it comes down to - Would you pay a 20-25k premium for the badge? That you see on every corner?

I'd have a hard time justifying buying a GS460/E550/550i over the Genesis - unless I got some crazy sub-invoice employee euro delivery

They're all great cars, but I wouldn't pay 20k for the prestige

Wow, lot of info:eek: I read each post. Multiple people comment on how well the Genesis rode/drove, and/or the suspension was Buick-like and too soft.

Anyway! Maybe you should post the "what is Luxury" video from this site to the Lexus site?

I found it interesting when the dude from Lousisana (spelling sorry!) said that his local Hyundai Dealership is crappy, with old chairs a poor waiting room and old magazines!

Lastly. for the dear love of GOD, FLYBOY, you need you get your arse to the Lexus forum. I think a little dry humor would do wonders to the crownd in this forum.

Great job! We hope you find yourself in a GENESIS soon. Goes to show the prais and attention this car gets outside our Blog Haven.

.

Actually, this probably says a lot more about Louisiana than it does about Hyundai.:D

Actually I was going to comment about him living in a backwards community where people like him sleep with there own sister, but I didn't want to offend anyone;)

That forum was actually a lot more accepting of your comments than I thought it would be going in. Some were "Hyundai is crap" types, but a lot of them were open to the Genesis.

Yup, some were positive. However, if you read the whole thread, you will see that another post about Genesis would put me on thin ice. And the 3 posts I made were all merged into one thread and the moderator threatened to close the thread. Pretty touchy and thin skinned.

WOW! I went to the thread and also read all the posts. I thought we were a bit snobbish about Genesis, but the Lexus folks are way over-the-top, hard case Lexus snobs. I'm very familiar with Toyotas from the 70's and they were low end POS's. Perhaps that is why I never took the Lexus brand as all that hot. But at least I went and checked them out, drove some, failed to be impressed at the "value" of the Lexus, i.e. way over priced!

I have owned MB's (3 series), BMW's (5 and 3 series), GM's (442, touring sedan, 98's). Lexus did not really impress me that much. As I was getting ready to trade in my loaded Lucerne for another car, I did more research than I ever had before. I had no real intention of looking at Hyundai until I read some of the raving reviews. I went and drove a V6 and then a V8 and was I ever impressed! IMHO, nothing short of $75K matches it!

The V8's performance specs, fit and finish, mileage....all point to the bargain that the Genesis is. No way would I trade my Genesis for ANY Lexus, even a straight trade! Is it lacking anything, yep, the passenger seat doesn't have all the niceties. Some of the handling of the Lexicon sound system could be friendlier, i.e. easier to use. And some folks were aggravated that the bluetooth didn't automatically copy over all of the call lists from their cell phone. These are certainly not big issues to me. Certainly not worth the many thousands of dollars difference with a Lexus, BMW, MB. Hell, even the loaded Buick costs more than my Gennie.....Cadillac pricing is not even close!

Oh, well, I did see Pinggolf's posting on the Lexus thread and I was quite amused. Good job, Pinggolf!

At any rate, cut-throat, thanks for the thread it brought back many fond (and not so fond) memories. Good luck with whatever automobile you get!

Forget Leksus. The rumor has it that people related to Leksus are having sleepless nights lately. Lack of sleep can certaintly cause mental anguish and anger. I ain't complaining about the money well spent on my Leksus killer.

Oh, I read it, I just went in expecting them to all hate you for suggesting a Hyundai could compare to (or surpass) a Lexus.

My thoughts exactly.
I was expecting worse, but looks like they're pretty open-minded except for some childish members.

Lexus' are great cars, yes. But the cost-cutting measures are prominent on their lineups as well.
I have to say that the interior design, especially the cluster, is very nice that I actually prefer that over those of the Genesis'
But then again, definitely not worth the extra $10k.
For a German, yes, but not for a Lexus. And that's just me.

Nice post PINGGOLF, although you had a typo when you said you left with an extra $10 in your pocket (I was confused till I saw your $10k later). Just an FYI if you want to fix it.

Yup, I thought so as well.

It was the Moderation of the thread that seemed thin skinned to me. Combining the threads, threatening to close the thread because there was no point to it. etc. etc.

I didn't mind the negative posts at all, but when the moderator jumps in and starts refereeing the thread in favor of Lexus - that was over the top as far as I was concerned.

Maybe a moderator here, would want to weigh in as to whether this was 'thin skinned moderation' or not.

I see your point.
I wonder if there's even a qualification for a moderator.
Often times I notice kids who 'moderate' the forum but actually making it worse with their immaturity.
== NOT referring to our moderators, who do great job on keeping ours civilized ==

Gambler, what page is PING's post on? I did read the entire thread, but wasn't really taking too much notice of the names etc.

Thanks for your help:cool:

When I read the thread, his post was at the very last. Page 10, I think..

I read through the quotes and some are giving the Genny props. But others are overlooking it, saying they won't pay $35k for a Hyundai. It's odd because some of those same people probably said the same thing about Lexus, which is basically a Toyota, in the early 1990s. They can keep their opinions because the Genny is a fine vehicle.

If you want a Buick ride you should try a current super late model stock car. The soft spring setups with digressive valved monotube shocks make these things super smooth. They are so soft the cross member under the engine on new chassis is a solid 3/4" thick bar rather than a 3"x2" tube; it lets the nose drop more with scraping.

Hey guys! As a Lexus owner, I felt I had every right to post in their forum.

Keep in mind, forum wars are real and I really dont want to clean up all the junk if it starts...:)

I posted late yesterday and again this morning. If you want to read it, go here:

My pledge to you as a moderator, I will never take sides in a disagreement...especially between competing forums or brands. I will look at both sides and simply keep the peace. We all have opinions and ego's that are very precious to us and the sooner we learn to respect those thoughts...the better. HOWEVER, some posts are useless and instigate a whole lot of trash. THOSE are the posts that I will not tolerate and I will do everything in my power to dismantle the individuals responsible. I expect that we will have some lexus owners to visit us soon, especially due to my post and I apologize for the headaches in advance. Please know that I will clean as I go and take out the trash as soon as I find it! I also request that you notify us if you come across these types of posts by hitting the "report post" button!

I love you guys (and Sandy) and even though I am partial to my Genesis, as a mod, I cant let my prejudice thoughts stand in the way of right and wrong.

Anywho, have an awesome day!
