If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

👋 all, I ran 255/50/19's on my stock rims during the winter.
I'd like to go up to a 265/50/19 on the said stock rims, has anyone attempted?

I'm not looking for spacers, just wondering about the 265's, as the 255's look nice on the vehicle, but 265's would look nicer.

I think it becomes a safety issue. I have seen a chart regarding recommended tire width ranges for all widths of rims. If stock is 9", I think 265 is just outside recommended range but suspect you can easily find online. Btw...are you swapping tires on the same wheels?

Yes, I'll be using the stock wheels.

For the tire size, all I could find was recommended wheel width of 7.5" - 9.5".

One site above. If your stock wheel is 9" (I suspect its that, or 8.5" wide), then max recommended tire width is 265, so you should be okay. Tire shop will also confirm for you.

Just be aware that removing and reinstalling tires twice a year can damage the tire. You also increase the risk that one of those times, the tire shop slips and damages your wheel during the removal/install process. Not end of world but definitely a hassle. Finally, the cost of having a tire shop remove and reinstall tires...might be less expensive over life of the tires to just by some steelies or other wheels. Just my $.05.

Whatever you decide....plse post some pics!!! :)

Thanks you answered a question I’ve been wondering. These 235’s on my 19’s look scrawny. I was hoping for 245 but 255’s sound intriguing! Speedo still accurate with the 255’s?

Yes, you have to lower the profile of sidewall,. Stock GV 21" are 255/40/21. If you go to a 22" wheel, you would buy a tire sized at 255/35/22 to maintain the same overall diameter and thus, no impact to spedometer.

I agree with you 💯 on the 235's. Speedo is very close, use this site to calculate different setups and screenshot between the two different sizes.

Did you ever try the 265's? I too am wanting this exact setup but have questions about rubbing....

Forgot about this thread, and yes, I am curious as well.

I got my GV in Oct 22, and ended up going with the stock size 235 for my Viking contact 7s because in the winter, my primary concern is to not "float" on top of snow covered roads, which are the circumstances where your tires can make or break your driving experience. Narrower is better so it cuts through the snow. All depends on where you live and the conditions you face I suppose. Yup, look scrawny, but the wider tire won't really add much to make it flush, which for me, strictly from an aesthetics perspective, is more important than a wide tire that still inset. To achieve this, basically need to get an after market wheel with lower offset (like +30), or some spacers to push out the stock wheels. Not sure I am willing to dump my funds into either for winter time when my car looks filthy most of the time anyway. Plus, keeping my stock wheels for future trade in is of value.
