  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Anyone have the following complaints with the GPS address programing?
I took delivery of a new 2009 V8 two weeks ago and just tried to program in my destinations from at least a 2 year old Garmin unit that sits on the dash but encountered problems with the predictive speller not being able to correctly find the street. Letters needed to identify the street were "grayed" out. Also not being able to input address numbers that were within the range specified as only the "delete" selection was available. I think both problems are indicative of obsolete mapping software?

Before you go any further, make sure you have the correct State entered.
When I first started with my GPS, I had the wrong State entered. The State must be entered first. Only then, do you enter the street. Towns will then show up that have the street you entered, and pick that town.

You'll find that using voice command is much easier however. You start with State, then city, street and finally address. This eliminates multiples of the same street such as Oak, etc.

Thank you for the responses. I'm 100% positive I had the correct state selected as I fell into that trap early on. I haven't worked on voice commanding yet so I'll give that a try.
