  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Is there any way to completely disable traction/stability control?

My friend asked me to figure out a solution for his 2013 Coupe R spec that simulates pushing and holding the ESC button for 3 seconds upon start up. I believe he wants to take it to the track and have fun without nannies kicking in. I found a 528T Pulse Timer that can be programmed to do this, that way the driver doesn't need to manually press and hold it every time they start the car. I also took it a step further and added a toggle switch to enable/disable the timer from activating. Finally, I am adding in a diode on the output of stock ESC button and timer so that the stock ESC button can manually enable/disable ESC as originally intended anytime during normal operation and power doesnt flow backwards. According to my friend, once he held the button for 3 seconds, it completely disables the ESC from kicking in. I plan to visit in May so I can let yall know if it is successful or not. If anyone has other inputs that may help in the meantime, I'm all ears.

Mine was completely disabled once when a wheel speed sensor failed in my 2015 5.0L. It snowed about an inch before I was able to get it to the dealer and it was sketchy AF to drive. I lost AWD so it basically drove like my old 90's 5.0L Mustang with an open diff. Absolutely no traction off the line. I don't know if the diffs are electronically controlled or of it's a "fake" LSD where it applies brake to the slipping wheel but none of it was working.

It's fake LSD using brakes. Wish there was a drop in mech LSD available.

So just to update yall, it works. I ended up leaving the diodes out of the circuit and he says it works the way he wants it to and is able to run a square setup. I put a rectangle toggle switch 3m mounted above the left fuse box so you'd have to open the door and pry the cover if you want it on or off (could mount it under the trim but we just wanted to slap it together) I soldered the input and output directly in line of the stock esc wiring, connected ground, and zip tied the bundles to the existing harnesses. Set the timer to about 4 seconds and dash says both systems are disabled right after starting the engine! Then we can re-enable esc anytime by pushing the stock esc button. If anyone's interested in details just pm me. I'm not looking to make any money, just share knowledge and tinker with things.
