  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Managed to get the UR strut brace to fit on the 5.0
Had to modify the stock intake tubes a little (took that ugly Hyundai shell cover off)
The UR brace combined with the UR rear sway bar made a big difference in the handling of the car. Steering feels tighter, very little body roll around corners now, and the car just feels overall more planted and not floaty like before.

Looks good. I only wished the UR give buyers an black painted option for their great performing support braces.:)

I will try the UR rear sway bar first and then maybe break down and buy the strut brace as well.

Thanks for the feedback on how it performs.

I would jump on this if it was black too! I wonder if we can get them to get us a black version if we have enough people to get a group buy. Doubt it tho there's like 4 of us modifying these 5.0s lol. On a side note i wonder if the G70/Stinger BMS bars would fit on ours to dress up the bay a bit more.

True. Not many of us early model (2015 and 2016)5.0 owners around with the true sport packages with electronic shocks that actually handles like a true sport sedan with decent performance tires. I believe that most 5.0 owners on this forum are 2017 or newer G80 owners that do not have a sport suspension package and are basically a plush luxury cruiser without any real sportiness. Therefore, no point in even trying to make 2017+ 5.0 or 3.8 handle any better. I would only just put some large 20in wheels on a 2017+ G80 5.0(or 3.8)and focus more on styling than handling.

So white strut bar it is I guess; heck I would even take one in red over white if given the option.

I'm pretty sure i dont have the electronic shocks.

They're part of the Ultimate package - if you have the jog dial on the console for the infotainment, you've got 'em.

I've got the electronic shocks.... "sport" is relative. Brings it up to the regular damping level of the regular 5.0.

I personally don't fling it around too often - she's a big 'ol tub. More comfort than speed.

ya i dont see this thing becoming a corner carver at all. Going back to the op i think Amgil uncovered another resonator in the intake system. its right where the emblem used to be.

It does handle pretty well for a "large" sport sedan; but it will not handle like a true sports car like a Mustang or Porsche. High performance tires is the best upgrade that our cars can use to increase the handling.

I do not know about your 5.0 Ultimate, but my electronic suspension handles very well in sport mode with hardly any body roll until you try to maneuver at speeds over 90mph. The plus is that the electronic suspension is very soft in normal mode; so best of both worlds.

Note: I also adjusted my tire pressures for more over-steer. 36psi front and 34 psi rear. The opposite of the door jam tire pressure recommendation(33psi front;35psi rear) that creates more under-steer for safer driving like most stock suspensions setups. Adding some over-steer helps the Genesis 5.0 Ultimate handle better for the more spirited driver without nose-diving into corners.

To be honest; not having the electronic shocks make finding replacement/upgrade shocks much easier. I have to buy only OEM replacments; unless I try to modify the electronic shock system to swap over to passive shocks. Too much trouble.

The 2015 and 2016 5.0 ultimate handles pretty good for its size, but it will not keep up with a smaller sport sedan like a G70 sport. The Genesis 5.0 ultimate does put other cars it size to shame in terms of handling. It can get into the .9G range for handling with decent performance tires. The 2015 Genesis 5.0 Ultimate can do .86G with the stock crappy grand touring Hankook tires per Car&Driver. Not bad for a large boat like the Genesis with all season grand touring tires

I agree... The Genesis is well balanced for what it is. I run the same tire pressure difference front/rear. In sport it feels pretty good in sweeping curves until about 8/10ths, then it's time to back off. It was a joy in West Texas / Big Bend....

LOL. I have to eat my words about the 2015 3.8 Hyundai Genesis handling and the type of Hankook tires used. The 3.8 Genesis with passive shocks actually handles better than my 2015 5.0 Ultimate with the electronic shocks. The tires used on the older 2015 Genesis were high performing Hankook Noble 2 all season tires; not grand touring tires. My 2015 had Michelin Pilot all season tires when I bought it in 2018. I guess less weight(4200lbs 3.8) vs (4600lbs 5.0) is the best option for better handling.:)

The older 2015 3.8 Genesis is the best handling early gen2 Genesis sedan model. It even have a higher top speed of 149mph(gear limited) vs. 145mph(governed) for my 5.0. My 5.0 Ultimate only surpasses the 2015 3.8 in acceleration and braking performance. Interesting.

Interesting....I wonder how itll handle with some weight reduction. I cant bring myself to start gutting this beautiful interior.

Man, I will not mess up my nice looking interior to road race my Genesis.:) I would just buy an old light weight Mazda Miata or Honda Civic and gut one of those.

The Genesis is a good handling car in both the 5.0 and lighter 3.8 models. .86g and .87g cornering is great for a large sedan, hell it is better than most FWD compact sedans on the road. However, if you want some real corning g's than buy a light weight coup that can easily pull over 1g.

A lighter 3050lb 2022 Honda Civic sedan only pull a .83g on the test track, so the the Genesis is a great handling sedan with either the 3.8 or 5.0 engine.

Im not ha we have honda crz for spirited corners

Someone high up supported the engineers to build an excellent car. Gen2 Genesis/G80 are well built and with the right tires (UHPAS), they can keep up with the likes of HEMI and LT3 engines. That speaks volumes.

I've been known to give regular HEMI Charger drivers a surprise every now & again..... The SRT ones, I don't mess with. The V6 guys are always trying to "race" for some reason, the 5.0 makes quick work of them though if I bother.
