  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I am having a problem trying to get my Ipod shuffle to work in my 2009. I keep receiving a message that says it doesn't recognize the format. I have also tried my Iphone as well and got the same response. Any ideas????

Did you search the forum on this subject? I am not sure if it is supported on the 2009 Genesis. I have an iPod but don't ever use shuffle.

I have an iPod Touch, which works great! I used to have an iPhone & that worked great as well. Not sure shy both your shuffle & your iPhone are not working. You may want to try replacing your iPod cable. I have noticed mine tends to be more airy if I don't straighten out the bend every now & then that is there permanently because of the cramped area where my iPod lies.

Do you have a 2009 or 2010 Genesis? OP has a 2009.

The OP is telling half the story. I get the same message on the iPhone too, BUT...
It is followed by "do you want to go to Airplane mode"?
Select "no" and all is good. Enjoy your music!

Same here. The iPhone displays that the accessory is not designed to work with iPhone, and asks if I want to put it to airplane mode.
But still able to access all my playlists.

Answer to your Ipod shuffle problems...

It's because the Genesis Sedan 09' and 2010 system does not support the ipod shuffle. The Hyundai iPod Cable accessory is compatible with 4th generation Apple iPod products produced from mid-2004 to present. This would include most iPod devices with the smooth front Click Wheel. It operates with all Videos, Nanos, Color displays, Photos, and iPod Touch. It does not support shuffles or the early touch and scroll wheel modes.

Since a Shuffle connects only with an audio cable, not a standard USB cable, maybe there's something different about it. maybe you need an audio cable and not the audio/usb cable used for an iPhone/standard iPod? For anything that uses the iPod USB cable, I've always had success though, from newer iPhones to older iPods.

Thats right you will have to use a standard 3.2mm auxiliary cable and just use your shuffle to control the tracks but i would assume you will not be doing much of that since it's a shuffle. good luck

I believe you have to use the Hyundai accessories cable with the USB+3.5mm audio jack.

Does anybody know exactly how this cable works? Is it using the USB part for control, and the 3.5mm jack for audio? If so that kinda sucks, I'd prefer digital audio transfer from the device to the DIS.

Has anybody compare using an iPod to using a USB stick? I'm curious how the performance is when browsing folders/songs (it's pretty horrible using USB).
