  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

GV60 Canadian Pricing Estimations

This whole pricing situation is very frustrating. I went into the Genesis dealer in Toronto.
The sales manger said they just had a head office virtual sales meeting with all the regional sales managers yesterday, discussing price points versus the completion.

He said from those discussions they now feel they can go as high as $69,999 up from $64,999 for The Advanced and $79,999 for Performance. He said pricing is still very much fluid as they assess just how high they can push the market to go.

At those prices he said they expect to lose 50% of the current 630 preorders to date. But they only have 300 available for Canada in 2022 so it would be a sell out anyway.
I think these guys are just throwing out numbers here.
I was told over 1,300 pre-orders.
Plus regional sales managers wouldn't be the ones setting prices. Those decisions are beyond their pay grade!

Not to set prices but to discuss price ceilings versus the mangers customer base limits and competition from other car makers.

Also a member stated that he ordered a GV60 on March 23 and was told he was 263 in line, so 630 today looks entirely plausible.

Genesis is very careful with pricing cause it is meant to be all inclusive. So they can't really drop it later if they've outpriced themselves.
Hopefully they give folks that pre-ordered some type of incentives!

Wow those sure are some numbers. At 80k I have to imagine at least half of those customers are gone and probably have quite a few upset people too. I’d be out 100% at 80k, no contest otherwise.
So true. I guess that’s business but pushing it as high as they can go and accept a 50% attrition because they can’t supply all the orders any way is frustrating to me as a customer…who is likely one of those walking

I saw incentives on the prior generation G80 on the Genesis website a few years ago, so there is some precedent. As a seller, it's always easier to lower prices than raise them. If I were in their shoes, I'd err on the high side for sticker pricing, particularly in this supply and pricing environment.

My contact just informed me that in the last meeting they axed the idea of a RWD in Canada.
Our only hope now is if they unbundle the Advanced car so it is under $60,000
He said they are considering removing the ADAS and auto cruise control altogether leaving only
  • Forward Collision Avoidance-Assist with Junction Turning (JT), Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist and Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist
on a base model and replacing the leather seats for leatherette.. Then adding it in a Tech package like Audi Q4.

That will help for folks looking into the Advanced trim, as for the performance it will not qualify no matter what they do

Yup sounds about what I've heard from my contact yesterday. Here's my post from the other thread:

Okay just a bit of news that is "confirmed" and was part of a Genesis conference from a few days ago. Disclaimer: I myself am taking this information with a grain of a salt as a friend of mine has a family who works at the Hyundai Head Office.

Here is what he was told. The RWD option isn't confirmed, and Genesis will be leaning towards the Audi Q4 e-tron pricing formula of having an essentially barebones "Advanced" GV60 to be priced under $60k (59,999) and having a package add-on of 5k-8k on top for the advanced. He said this is the most popular option discussed.

Again, I lean towards not having much expectation.

They can go back to using Advanced and Elite.

It doesn't really make sense strategically. At 80k, that's more than the BMW i4. Then they're forced to price the gv70 even higher which would be more than the BMW iX.

I love Genesis and my g70 but c'mon. A price tag of $80k means you start competing with a lot of cars that is frankly better.

Also resell value. Genesis is still in its entrance phase as oppose to the luxury brand already existed. In order to make a dent in the luxury segment. The gv60 will wow the public by pricing and offering compare to other. It has to, if Genesis wants attentions.
The EV is a very hot market now. If Genesis can take this opportunity, the GV60 can make their brand successful if they ride this EV trend carefully.

Another data point: EV6 GT pricing in Switzerland.

The GV60 Performance will have the EV6 GT as a competitor. I suppose it might be priced about the same because the GT has more power.

Looks like pricing for the EV6 GT in Europe is coming in ~$7600/9000 (USD/CAD) over the GT-Line spec. Usual caveats apply re: translation of prices. https://www.kia.ch/fileadmin/PDF/EV6/kia_broschuere_ev6_de.pdf

Swiss pricing (CHF) is:
EV6 AWD, GT-Line, GT
60’950.- 66’950.- 75’950.

Swiss VAT is 7.7% and CHF/USD = 1.03

I just saw the pricing for Germany. Pretty sure these were just released within the past few days. Leading me to believe the price will be about 10k higher than most people are estimating.

"It starts with the Sport model from 56,370 euros (76,752 CAD). It features two electric motors (160 kW rear / 74 kW front) and all-wheel drive, and offers a range of up to 470 kilometers (according to WLTP).

The GV60 Sport Plus starts from 71,010 euros (96,685 CAD) with all-wheel drive, 360 kW output and a range of 466 kilometers.

We don’t have tariffs on Korean cars. Hence why our Korean vehicles are cheaper than the US after conversion!

In another thread someone posted a message from what appeared to be a journalist stating that their reviews of the GV60 were embargoed until May 17.
If all we get by then are reviews (that we’ve already seen from Koreans) I’ll be thoroughly disappointed.

Not everything in Korean spec will be in the Canadian spec.
Even US and Canadian spec would have minor differences.
Hopefully we get HDA2, self parking, and a few other features.
Also does anyone know if the connected services are 5G or LTE?
