  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

New System and MAP Update v16 in May

Google powered system in the stock navigation? Or you mean Android Auto lol.. Didn't see any version powered by Google, maybe the new 2022 Genesis?
Nope. It’s car of connected services (button on mirror) since 2017, all models

In our G80 Sport the voice command system works great. Easily the best I have ever used. On average if I was was to push the button and tell it the name of a Hungarian restaurant 30 miles away, it gets it right the first try, 4 times out of 5. Not to say that every now and then it does not get stupid (because it does), but on average it works quite well.

Weird. So you're in the US? I'm assuming you have the Houndify AI system then

Update: looks like they moved the date to tomorrow, Apr 28

They list several dates for all the Hyundai Motors vehicles here:

Sorry about this attachment below, can't seem to delete it. Anyway, your car came on a boat that looks like this one! :giggle:
That is better than coming on a ship like this one

What the heck do you mean by exceptional? It's an absolute POS voice system and really doesn't work reliably..
Not sure if maybe it depends on region, but in Canada it's trash. I believe the US and Canadian systems are also different, the US one I remember got an update (v15) where it became based on Soundhound's "Houndify AI", this isn't available yet, if at all, in Canada. Would be awesome to get that in v16.
So maybe that's why.
Sounds to me like you have a case of "Operator Inexperience". System works fine in the US and I have used FoMoCo and GM systems as well as this Genesis system. Maybe you should read the owners manual?

I guess you have a case of "go back to grade school and learn how to read"
You're in the US. I'm in Canada. Two different voice systems. The Canadian one sucks ass.

I had a 6 hours trip a couple of weeks ago, I like to use Waze for navigation but when I gotta stay on the same road for a while I like to switch to the Genesis map (no navigation) just to kinda see my relative distance from the destination and also to explore the cities on the map.

The Genesis map is EXTREMELY lacking when it comes to displaying city names, regardless of zoom level it barely shows anything for hundreds of miles, you barely get to see only the very major city names. It's very disappointing. I wish there was a way to make it populate city names instead of just showing me blank space for hundreds of miles..

Just updated (Gen5)

THE BULBS ARE GONE!!

Radio interface is super basic now
Voice system still doesn't have Houndify AI in Canada and is still crap
Not many changes at all for a new major update. Very deceiving.
Not sure if anything better/different on Gen5W

I never would think to use the navigation screen for that purpose. I prefer to sit in the recliner with the Rand McNally Road Atlas for that.

Over the weekend I decided to use the built in Genesis navigator to see how well it would take me to a town we go to that's about an hour and a half away. Note that I've use AA and Waze for the same trip and both follow the exact path everyone normally uses to get there.

As we're entering the downtown area, I know that I need to be in the left two lanes to prepare for an exit that's a mile up the road that will in turn transfer me to the connecting highway. Wellll..the Genesis map kept beeping at me to take a totally different exit that would take me completely in the opposite directions and loop me around the far back end of the downtown area and probably add and extra 5 minutes to the trip.

Add to that the exit she wanted me to use has been closed for 2 months so I just ignored her yet again and just went on my merry way using my normal route. I feel bad for anyone using this Nav system that visits towns they don't know well.

Yep, not surprised. Not the most reliable tool vs the Internet connected maps that are always aware of changes

Looks like there's album art now on some songs on SXM? Don't recall seeing that before

Any chance you can take a few photos of the new look? Do you have better control of radio presets now?

Haven't seen more control for radio presets, I think they're still in order but haven't played with them. This is the new Radio look that replaces the bulbs.

Looks like it may be an improvement. I'm still on the original 2019 firmware as I don't like most of the updates they've made. If you discover that presets can be sorted to your liking please let us know!

Still in numerical order, boo!
