If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Model Type
No Genesis Yet!
It looks like some people can place deposits in only four states. No info on pricing. Allows you to select the Advanced and Performance trims and colors.

It seems the only way to get the nicer interior and seats is with the Performance model.

This is the Advanced interior:

The bottom steering wheel is still the performance model. I guess that's the premium interior and non-premium interior that has the quilt and ventilated seat? Are you using the configuration on the korean's KDM site? They have regular and premium seating trim, i don't think we will get that quilt interior/

This is straight from the U.S. configurator in OP's link. This is what the U.S. market will get for their respective trims. Unlike KDM, we don't get a-la carte options or packages for the GV60, every trim is complete and will only let you choose the color.

The deposit scheme sounds suspiciously like what Hyundai did with the Ionic 5 recently. All Hyundai did was forward your contact info to the nearest dealer, telling the dealer you were interested enough to leave a $500 deposit. Lots of complaints on the Hyundai forums that the dealers gave no preference to the folks who left the deposits versus anyone who just happened to walk through the showroom door, nor anyone else. And there were many reports of dealers just being totally non responsive to customers who had given deposits, assumedly because they had far more serious buyers versus cars. Finally, notice how there is no mention of you being able to buy the car for MSRP. Each dealer sets the selling price, and I have to think at least initially many dealers will be pushing for selling prices way above MSRP, just as what happened with the Ionic 5. If there is any good news, it does sound like anyone who left a deposit and was unable to buy the car they wanted at the price they wanted were given a prompt refund when they asked for it.

I have a $100 deposit with my local Genesis dealer as they happen to be 5 minutes from my house and they have no markups. The deposit (2nd at the dealer) just puts me at the top of their list for picking incoming cars. I am in MA and 30 minutes from one of the first Hyundai dealers to get the Ioniq 5s, and of course they added a $5k fee because “they were the only one with them”, I suspect the first Genesis dealers to get the GV60 will do the same.

NY/NJ and CA are the biggest 2 ports in the US. I suspect they picked those states simply because the first shipments are coming into those ports and have limited numbers.

In Canada, Genesis has a no-haggle offer and orders are placed online. So, prices don’t vary by dealer or buyer.

Actually Hyundai/Kia/Genesis no longer uses NY/NJ as a POE. They consolidated NY/NJ and Baltimore to Philadelphia. My guess is they picked the states they did because that's where the largest concentrations of their high volume dealers tend to be (especially the greater New York Metro area and SoCal) much the same as other upscale imports like Audi, Alfa, Porsche, BMW, Lexus, Mercedes, and Infiniti. And I don't think it's a coincidence all 4 states they picked follow California emissions standards.

Has anyone who placed a deposit in the US been connected with a dealer yet?

Genesis Priority One did reach out to me to confirm the color and trim for my GV60 but I haven't yet been paired up with a dealer. Not sure if I'll have a choice of dealers or if they'll just send me to one that's been allocated a car that matches my selections.

I did reach out to all of the Genesis dealers in my area (SoCal) to inquire about their policies regarding markups, fees, and mandatory dealer add-ons. Only one answered the question directly (no markup, $2500 in dealer add-ons which may be negotiable). The others just wanted to set up a time for a phone call, and/or ignored my questions to reply with a form email. Guess this is the kind of thing people are complaining about with the whole subpar Hyundai/Genesis dealer experience.

Good luck! Let us know what transpires. Sounds like it's a tough time to be a new car buyer in SoCal right now.

I just saw this & thought it may be useful for someone to reference.
Dealership has to change
The article claims the settlement puts the dealer on notice. I agree, except it gives them notice that all they will receive is a slap on the wrist. All they have to pay is reimbursements for charges they were never entitled to in the first place, and a $100k-$200k is pocket change to a large dealer like Koons. There should be a trial with lots of publicity, and fines so heavy that it puts the dealer out of business. The state can certainly use the revenue. If you really want to stop these practices, that's how to do it. Make the dealer absolutely fearful of stepping out of line.

Looks like they closed the reservation list on the US site already. Not sure when it happened. Hopefully that's a good sign for those that signed up to be guaranteed a car over the next few weeks. Although pricing is still up to dealers.

Did anyone save what options were included in the US Advanced/Performance trim levels? I made a reservation for the Performance, but was wondering if the B&O sound and Surround View Monitor were also included in the Advanced trim.

From the product guide I've seen posted on here, the Surround View monitor & Blind spot monitor are only on the Performance model. That's one of the reasons I pre-ordered performance. Also I wanted the blue interior.

I could have screwed up when I copied the features listed for each, however I do recall noting several differences compared to the listings on the Canadian offer. One example is the US configurations have fewer color options for both the exterior and interior.

I tapped the Performance for the blue interior, but also the trick suspension - NYC potholes don't ya know. The extra power and big wheels is not interesting to me. Blind spot monitors, surround camera, and HDA II were all must haves, and I seem to recall the Advanced also included those. Again, I could be wrong.

As an aside, one important GV60 model feature that hasn't been mentioned in this forum is the next-gen hardware/software stack vs. Ioniq 5/EV6. The nVidia system is far more sophisticated and powerful. It allows OTA updates over car components and systems, not just infotainment. For me, that alone is worth a significant premium.

It is odd Genesis USA removed the pre-order configurations so we could confirm the package features. I expected the Canada and US features would match.

I think Nappa leather and the Leatherette Wrapped Instrument Panel were two other differences in the Performance model for the US configurations. Performance had the quilted Nappa leather while Advanced had regular leather, although I'm not sure what the real-world difference is there. I called the Concierge to switch my preference from Advanced to Performance, mostly for the nicer interior and seats.

I'm not certain that either has HDA 2 since they only list HDA in the spec sheet. All Genesis models had their HDA 2 downgraded to HDA back in March due to chip shortage. Oddly, Kias are still shipping with HDA 2.

Where did you get the chipset information from? GV60 is part of their first gen EV so I would imagine it sharing the same electronic control system as the sister models.

The most useful links are:

The system in the EV6/Ioniq 5 is the GEN5W, the latest gen of the in-house Android-based system. Hyundai had previously announced their plans to migrate to nVidia Drive. The GV60 is the initial implementation and is probably using Drive iX.

There is also a marketing page re: GV60 that emphasizes the scope of the OTA capabilities. I think it is on the Korean (English) site, It also talks about the ccIC system that integrates the clusters, infotainment, etc. and notes that the GV60 is the first to implement this feature, which will be standard for all new models. The article above covers everything in more depth.

It is easy to see the difference from the old Android system and the nVida Drive interface. The Drive system is demoed here:
Compare that against any of the Ioniq 5/ EV6 demos.

Finally, here is a link to the nerd-level description and a look at the hardware module:

nVidia's stack for OEM auto applications is: QNX (gauge cluster ...), Linux, and Android.
The Linux layer is likely handling sensor inputs, modeling, learning and inference. Android is presumably the UI layer and bridge to external services (mapping, music, ...).

GV60 is distinctive in the Genesis product line, but it is being used as the dev platform for their cutting edge tech - expect the next G90 to be a statement of tech leadership. You can see the initial features in the GV60 Performance. It is using the modeling, learning and inference layer to provide the adaptive lane following (learn the driver's style) capacity. A clear use is in 'road preview' where it is doing real-time road surface prediction to electronically adjust the suspension. It is known that Hyundai is doing this using just the camera input (plus GPS - not sure how that fits in though). Of course the face recognition system in GV60 is part of this picture as well.

The nDrive system is sophisticated and powerful. Check out: NVIDIA DRIVE Solutions for Autonomous Vehicles | NVIDIA Developer

Hyundai has made a strategic commitment as a development partner for their move to L3, L4 autonomous systems. In fact, the chairman has said that the company has focused strategic investment on advanced tech/autonomy against the choice of integration of battery manufacturing. They are betting battery availability will sort itself out and that the strategic winners will be those who lead in autonomy implementations. I think Hyundai is exactly right about that.
