  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Thoughts ? It seems like genesis doesnt have the performance vs BMW at least, gv70 beats every car in its class but the m40i x3. Samething for g70 beats in its class but the bmw 340i.

Not surprised. I chose a GV70 because of the balance between performance and luxury. Disappointing that the driver of the GV70 did not use launch control, though. The outcome would likely be the same, but probably closer.

For me I'm OK with the fact the BMW can take off from a line faster.. The beauty for me is I have yet to see another GV70 driving around my large town of Austin and the X series are everywhere.... And traffic is so bad here, there's no way to go faster than 50 MPH in this town anyway! (Plus the GV70 is cheaper)

I agree that the BMW would win anyway, but this guy is well-known for being slow on the draw and getting horrible launches 🙄 They should try it with him driving the other car.

Yes this guy is terrible. We all know the BMW is slightly quicker but he makes it look like a much bigger difference. Not sure if intentional or he really is just that bad at launching.

Yup, he's nicknamed on other forums as "Slow Sam" for good reason.

Yeah, I mean the guy really seems incapable of driving.

I'm sorry, but that Beemer looks terrible next to the GV

Bimmer 😉 Beemers are their motorcycles.

Frankly, could not care any less. At my age, I have no plans to go to the track and would never find myself in a situation where I would come even close to "racing". In fact, that's why I went for the 2.5T Prestige. It has plenty get up and go for my liking.

to be fair, the Germans now how to build fantastic ICE and know how to properly gear a car. I am purchasing a 2.5T and am coming from a 2.0T Mercedes e300. The Mercedes is 200 pounds lighter and only has 240HP, and obviously is not a tall SUV, but that car is significantly faster, both 0-60 and with the but dyno that the 2.5T (and possible the 3.5T) and gets way better gas mileage to boot.

I wonder how the GV70 would fair with tires that have better traction then the Primacy’s? Hmmmm…

With AWD I don't think it would change things, especially since the Genesis has a somewhat wimpy launch. I've never had a traction issue with my AWD 3.3T G70 with the Primacy tires. Maybe with a tune it would be helpful.

I am still amazed that such things are done with SUV's. These are bigger and taller cars. This car was not purchased to go to the Nurburgring and race. I really think most SUV drivers never even dream of going to the track to "beat" somebody. It is a comfortable cruiser. I have the Veloster N for having childish runs on back roads and "beating" other cars.

B58 engine is one of the best production engines in the world and the ZF8 is the best non-dual clutch automatic available today so the outcome is not really surprising as no ICE SUV in the price range will beat the X3 M40i in a straight line.

It had its debut in the BMW 7 Series (F01) 760Li saloon fitted with the V12 engine, and since then each new BMW model in all Series down to the 1 Series in rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive versions have the option to been equipped with it.

It will be able to encompass a torque range from 300 newton-metres (221 lbf⋅ft) to 1,000 newton-metres (738 lbf⋅ft), and will be available for use in middle-class cars through to large luxury sport utility vehicles.

I have that in my M760I, AWD and 590 ft/lb at 1550 RPM bone stock. Any transmission that holds up to that is no joke. It's both smooth and seamless, and also a brut, depending on what driving mode you are in.
