If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Installed the UR strut tower brace on the 5.0 today.

I've been known to give regular HEMI Charger drivers a surprise every now & again..... The SRT ones, I don't mess with. The V6 guys are always trying to "race" for some reason, the 5.0 makes quick work of them though if I bother.
My 5.0 can hold its own is acceleration and handling against any Charger/Challenger up the the R/T Super Bee(6.4 Hemi) on up. The 5.7 V8 and V6 models get embarrassed by my "sleeper" sedan.

After one red light pull the V6 guys in my area tap out. The 5.7 guys will keep trying and losing.:)

I normally have minivans trying to race me
I keep getting Toyota Prius drivers trying out merge me for some reason.:)

The 5.7 can improve its chances using a higher octane fuel. With regular, they go 0-60 in 5.7. The Genesis does it in 5.5 easy. Up the octane to Premium...i dunno....always use regular.

I find it preforms better when from a 20 to 30mph roll. With some aftermarket support these 5.0s would be monsters. When I 1st got it I used premium when I switch back to reg i couldnt tell any difference.

I can't imagine that "brace" doing much of anything (other than lightening your wallet). The cross tube is too far away from the shock towers and too small of a diameter to do much against flexing. Maybe a straight across larger diameter tube/bar mounted with more than one puny 8mm bolt and then triangulated back to the firewall might help but even then I'd be suspect of you ever noticing it.

This car is a tank. Drive it for what it was intended. Comfort. Wanna corner fast? Consider a Go Kart. Indoor Kart facilities are just about everywhere to try it out.

Someone above said something about cornering at 90 mph. Hopefully you are doing that at your local race track and not on the road.

Premium is unnecessary. It's only good for an engine with higher compression pressures to suppress detonation. Could help with the turbo model but I suspect the boost is limited and timing is throttled back anytime it gets near knocking.

Actually the 5.0 can do 0-60mph in about 5.0-5.2 seconds average in stock form(with 91 or better octane) without needing any type of special launch methods. However, the 5.0 can do sub 5 second 0-60 times in the range of 4.6-4.8 seconds with some better performance tires to reduce wheel spin if launched without the traction control activated.

Pedal boosters like Sprint booster also can help shave a couple 1/10ths of the acceleration time as well due to less throttle delay; however none of this has been actually proven as a fact with any hard data. So just speculative.

The Genesis can handle very well, but I would not try 90mph corners on a road with normal traffic. The roads I use to "test out" my suspension are basically empty at night on my way to work. The speed limit is 65mph for the curves, so going 90mph around the curve is not that much for the Genesis(plus 80mph is the average speed drivers use on a highway in the Atlanta area). The curves are not hairpins, but are s-shaped which are fun if you go for that type of driving. A lot of performance cars seem to like that road at night due to the fact that police do not waste time monitoring it at night because no one uses it but a hand full of cars, plus that section of road do not have a proper area for a police cruiser to hide in. The road(back road highway) also have some long straight a ways for some drivers that want to test the top speed. However, police do monitor the straight away sections at night closer to the off ramps so top speed driving is a big risk near the exits. However, there is about 5 miles of smooth open 3-lane road with a s-curve in my area that is usually police free at night to have some fun.

However, during the day the road is pack like crazy so no luck driving pass 50mph; let alone 90mph.

I'm getting 5.5 with 87 octane from Costco. I'm not complaining. I rarely get above 70 on our tollways in DFW. Its a bit of a shame. I have less than 47,000 miles and the car is 8 years old (in service date was December 2014). In the last three years, I've driven almost nowhere. My insurance company (USAA) didn't believe me, so I sent photos and a copy of my yearly inspection report. I got a refund...and the agent that helps me wants to buy my car. I thought about it. But, its paid off and haven't had anything really go wrong with it. Could I do more to it to increase performance? Definitely. Would I benefit from it in my daily life? Nope.
Want something faster and built with upgrades in mind? Go get a Dodge Charger HEMI. That thing fits the bill. An endless project car. But do youself and others around you a favor, replace the tires! The Firestone and Goodyear OE tires are a joke. You need atleast 275/40R20's...or more. Guy was "dragging" (spinning the rear tires out and created a smoke cloud) on a side street to blew out one of his rears.

The Genesis/G80 does have the soul of a performance sedan. A good set of tires and sensible driving will yield many years of auto enjoyment. Just need to scope out your roads, be aware of road conditions and weather. As a side note, make sure you understand the wildlife situation. Hitting a deer at 90 is going to ruin your day.

True. Wildlife can be a issue for any highway driving. However, the roads I use are fenced off and have raised sections that expand over some creeks ;hence why the police cannot hide on them. It is a large six lane highway with all kinds of barriers in the center and on the sides to prevent wildlife from causing an accident.

I am sure that hitting wildlife at 65mph (or even 80mph which most drivers do at night )will cause just as much damage to my Genesis at 90mph. But, moving at 65mph would reduce the impact overall I must admit. It is always a risk to driving highway speeds; even the posted 65mph or 70 mph speed limits.

The Genesis is good enough for me. A mid-5 second 0-60mph car is quicker than what most drivers will ever need. A sub-5 second car that can pull .86(or better) handling is in sport car territory; which is still better than what most drivers will ever need outside of a raceway or circuit track.

I only get to really "test" my car on about 5 miles of road on my way to work at night on a empty highway. Any other time I drive during the day; my average speed is about 60mph at the most due to congestion. Therefore, I see no reason for a low 4 second 0-60 "true" sports car in my area due to never being able to actually use it to its full potential except for the 5mile of road I use for a little fun ever so often.

Speaking of wildlife critters. We now have 600lb boars roaming our "green belt", aka stinky swamp bottom of the Trinity River. Which goes right through Dallas. I don't even want to imagine how that would turn out. We have so many racers these days that use the bad roads paralleling the Trinity just because the cops don't go over there.

Agreed. The only time I ever need full throttle is when highway merging. People in Dallas are ruthless and don't let you merge, so initiative is necessary. My nephew has been eyeing my car up. He's still 16, so it would be ECO only mode drive. He's super sensible tough not unlike me. I was that idiot that rolled a car right before my 17 birthday. Makes you realize death comes for us all...so, don't be a number.

I do not have any large critters like boars in my area. The road I take do not have an dears neither due to the location(over pass mostly and larger barriers). The area is fairly urban and have borders on the highways, but you never know.

Fairly safe road to drive highway speeds on. It is a large six lane state highway.

I appreciate the concern, but the Genesis will not roll at 90mph as a rule. I understand that you are older(I assume) and frown upon fast driving, but the Genesis can handle a gradual curve at 90mph. I have been driving a lot longer(about 30 years) than an 17 year old; so not need to preach wisdom to me. However, I am also aware that there is always a risk to having fun with a car.

LOL, the last few accidents over the years I had was from low speed collision in traffic due to other drivers not paying attention. Driving 90mph on a open highway is safer than 30mph during rush hour in my area.

But I get your point.:)

Yeah, I've been driving since 15. So, 32 years driving now. Guess I've become more critical in my older years. But, I do enjoy going to Austin. They have a toll road that has an 85mph speed limit. 90 doesn't phase the Genesis.

LOL. I also have chilled a lot since my younger days. However, I have been driving this same stretch of road for about 8 years with various cars. So I know it like the back of my hand. Every dip and turn. The Genesis can more than handle the road safely at 90 mph, but anything over 90mph does put the car at its limit on the curves. My SUV can barely handle the same curve on the road at the speed limit; so not every vehicle I own is a fun car to drive or safe doing it on that road.

The Genesis is a great handling sedan and is safe at highway speeds up to a point. However, I do have high performance tires so I would not try what I do on the milder stock tires with less grip. You got to know the car and road well before performing any spirited driving. Many young drivers do not understand that, but a well seasoned driver does.

The Feral Hogs haven't made it to Houston yet... I'm sure it's just a matter of time.
