  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Model Year
2022
Genesis Model Type
Genesis G70
Does anyone have information on what changes the 2023 G70 has, compared with 2022 model? Has a date for availability of the 2023 been announced? Thanks!

I don't anticipate anything, since it just changed for 2022. I'll have that conversation tomorrow, when considering if returning my car or not. I read that no more 2022s were being produced, so need to know when 2023s would arrive, before deciding if I undo the deal or not.

When is the next gen G70 suppose to come out and what will it be powered by??

Same ones as the GV70, which use the same platform, so 2.5T and 3.5T, both with dual injection, and more efficient. But G80 and GV80 use the same engines too, due to just being an extended platform. At any rate, I have my doubts that Hyundai (or Genesis) will bring a new G70 version, due to declining sedan sales, but if they do, hope it's not with the same old man feel as the G80 and GV70, starting with that hideous steering wheel. We'll see, I guess.

My guess for the G70 is electric or electric assist... Just like the Kia EV6GT is replacing the Stinger. ICE is out.

If you've ever watched Albert Biermann talk about Genesis, they purposely came out with sedans first and will continue making them because it's in their DNA. Oh and I just saw this as well. The Hyundai IONIQ 5 N. Looks really good!

The Stinger is almost the same thing as the G70 (just 6" longer), so if that's the case, then my suspicions are most likely right. I also agree Genesis will start electrifying its fleet as well. Hope to get one, since I'll have to undo the deal on mine tomorrow :(.

Genesis said every new car they introduce from 2025 onward will be an EV, so the next-gen G70 will almost certainly be an EV when it comes out in MY 2025, following Genesis's usual 6-year product lifespan.

Keep your eyes pealed on the Ioniq 6, because that will likely be the basis for the G70 and next Kia Stinger, just like the Ioniq 5 to the Genesis GV60 and Kia EV6.

Folks have been spelling Kia Stinger's doom for years now. As far back as 2020, rumors ran rampant that there will be no 2022 mid-cycle refresh. Then the '22 came out. Just a few months ago, there were again articles written on 2022 being the last year for Stinger. Then the 2023 Stinger line up was announced, including a couple of new editions. With the way Stinger sales have picked up, I doubt Kia would kill it for 2024, the last year of Kia's typical mid-cycle refresh lifespan. Whether there will be a completely re-designed Stinger is, of course, murkier. Again, rumors abound. The plaftform might turn EV. Or Hyundai/Kia might have something up their sleeves, like the mid-engine sportscar using Stinger as test mule might hint at: https://www.autoevolution.com/news/...iew-hyundai-ns-all-new-halo-model-163952.html

I would not count sedans out categorically, either. With the way fuel prices are - and likely will be for some time to come - the red hot truck and SUV market could possibly cool off some. Compared to 16mpg truck/SUVs, 30mpg sedans are looking more and more appealing the higher the prices at the pump go.

I would read the "all new models will be EV by 2025" with a big grain of salt. That could mean that all existing models will remain what they currently are. G70/80/90 and GV70/80/90 are technically all existing or legacy models. That bold new statement will still be true, if these models soldier on as (mainly) ICE platform. "All new models", in all likelihood, just means ones like the GV60.

As for the redesigned G70, my guess is it will remain ICE. 2.5T might replace the 2.0T, but I doubt they'd stuff the 3.5TT into the compact sedan, except maybe as a high$$ special edition. They'll likely focus on overall refinement instead.

I never doubted that; it's a very costly step to take, since once the initial investment is fully amortized by the 3rd or so year, vehicle becomes more profitable for the automaker. The only reason a factory would kill a car within its regular life-cycle is absolutely dismal sales. So vehicles are typically killed at the end of their cycles.
