  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I am the original owner of my 2011 4.6 Sedan. For the first time in my ownership, I had to use the EPB on my driveway last night b/c I had contractors doing work in my house and they needed my garage. I have never ever used the EPB before for any length of time. Everything this morning was fine when I went out, put the car back on the driveway for the day. Going out tonight to dinner, I noticed the EPB flashing and my center display saying "Push the EPB button". I did this repeatedly, with GREAT pressure on the brake pedal. The light is still on. Auto Hold light comes on as well. But the EPB is not engaged. I can drive without issue. Rolling stops. All normal, except for the blinking light and the display telling me to push the damn button. Is there a way to reject the sensor, or whatever is causing the issue. I've ready many posts where people have had the same issue with the EPB engaged. I've read some of the stories about the cost to disengage the EPB. Hopefully, this isn't in my future. Thanks in Advance.

Bump - One last attempt

You should use the parking brake every single time that you park. There are several good reasons for it, slope or no slope. Possibly, another good reason to use it every time is so that it won't freeze up and fail when you finally do use it.

That EPB light does not indicate that the parking brake is engaged, the red brake light does that. Instead, it indicates that there is a fault with the parking brake. Also, the auto-hold light that is on is the one that indicates that the auto-hold feature is disabled. (For safety reasons, it is disabled if the parking brake is not there as a backup for it.)

This is not something to reset, or a "sensor" issue. It's an actual fault with the assembly that pulls and releases the parking brake cable. If you want it to work again, or even just to stop complaining, then it needs to be repaired.

And repaired means replacing the whole assembly which last check was about $1700 for the parts

There are other less expensive (but more risky options), such as getting a used assembly, or rebuilding the one you have.

Well if it's a module glitch you can try disconnecting the negains battery cable for 30 minutes. If that doesn't reset it, then it's probably mechanical and you need a mechanic as joegr stated.

I may try this. Cheaper than the alternative, right?

See the other post in the forum about this. (It has a pictogram). There is a rubber cap that you can remove on the rear hubs. In the top dead center position is a toothed wheel you can use to adjust the e-brake pad. Turn all the way one direction using a screw driver, then back it up 6 clicks. Worked for me to get the crazy gear tooth grinding noise to go away.

Dealer wanted $3800 and can’t even get the ECM for 2 weeks+…
