  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Connected Services going away in December 2022

I have already contacted a law firm. The first letter of notification came in 2019 in the terms of agreement.
Do let us know if there are any developments.

Mine also shows LTE, but I still got the letter for my car the I got in November 2019.
Can someone please show a screenshot where it shows LTE. Thanks

Here’s a workaround that may help:

I’m going to call Genesis to see if they’re participating in the program. Would cost them $300 per affected vehicle. That’s a lot cheaper than not ever having me for a customer again.

I don't see anything about remote start...

I would happily pay that.

Well maybe not happily, but I would.
And what is stopping you?
Although $300 is not much, it doesn’t seem to do much. Remote start and sending destinations to the car‘s native nav are two of the most important things missing.

They mention VW and Audi. Don't get your hopes up. I get this message:
We're sorry. The VIN entered is not associated with a vehicle
that is equipped with Car-Net.

Exactly the same thing that's stopping you: the most important feature are not there yet. So far Genesis is not collaborating with this or any other aftermarket connected services company. It looks like to me the OBDII dongle would only provide these basic monitoring and tracking features. To me, this is a list of practically useless services.

If Genesis doesn't step up and collaborate with them or another similar product, and provide full integration that includes cellular-based remote start and control over the HVAC and other systems, I'm not interested.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Sorry about that, I assumed the part about needing Genesis to be a collaborator first was a given. You know what they say about making assumptions.... :D

Am reading that Verizon is offering (free) 4G flip-phones, by end of 2022, to their current 3G users. Appears Verizon wants to retain existing customers best they can. Genesis should consider a similar approach. A reasonable solution awaits...

Good idea. Where should we mount the flip phone? Dash or console?

C'mon Ed, u still got one.
Didn't mean to be "flippent" about subject. Genesis really needs to consider BRAND and support for all owners. Letting Verizon drop support for vehicle comm without an option, will be, in my opinion, an error - marketing or otherwise.

That may be true, but flip phone? Gotta admit, kinda funny.

From what has been written, it is not very simple. The modem, as I understand, is integrated in the head unit, not just pull the old and insert the new.

They should have updated years ago and built with 4G. It was available in 2010 so should have been in the 2014 and later models.

Verizon has more profit motive in this. If they don't give out those phones, they could lose most of those customers and their recurring monthly bills. Genesis may be looking at it as that they have already sold those cars, only a few of their customers continue that service after the free period ends, and a lot of people trade cars every three to five years anyway. (I too would prefer that they offer an upgrade or that they had put in LTE modems from the start, but I do see the facts that they are considering.)

I don't see anything about remote start...
From a consumer’s viewpoint, a car without the ability to remote start and control temperature is not viable in areas like AZ where the temperature reaches 110 very often for months of the year. Or in NY for that matter where seasonal temps are in the teens or 90s. If I lived in San Diego I wouldn’t care so much…
Genesis of NA Consumer Support not only regurgitates that the termination of connected services is not their fault, but goes out of their way to repeat that they have no plans to assist any customer in maintaining Connected Services. Moreover, they threaten that if we or a Genesis dealer were to install or facilitate installation of any 3rd party part, they would void their factory warranty.
Miserable customer service at best.

All of us need to continue to call Hyundai/Genesis and complain. I’m even going to reach out to legislators.
