  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2011 Toyota Avalon - Benchmarks what car?

Overall cabin build quality and materials approach Lexus standards. Interestingly enough, Toyota says it benchmarked Hyundai's Genesis sedan for interior refinement. How times have changed.

Thanks for sharing.
Funny that Toyota benchmarked Hyundai, lol.
IMO, the Genesis' interior is more classy and elegant, but I do like how the Avalon has manually reclining rear seats and front cooled seats.

I would recommend this car to my grandmother and anyone looking for a Buick.

The Merkur Scorpio in 1988 (4 Door version) had power reclining rear seats, surprising thhis has not become more wide spread.

I guess US drivers don't use the rear seats as often as other countries.
The heavy traffic in LA and very few cars on the car pool lane makes me realize how many people ride alone.

Power reclining feature has been quite popular among Korean luxury vehicles, and is available on the Genesis.

I am new to the forum but let me share with you first hand. We looked at the 2011 Avalon vs the 2010 3.8 Genesis. Hands down Hyundai won us over in all areas. We took delivery of a new 2009 Genesis 3.8 loaded May 22, 2010and saved BIG $$$ over the 2010. My wife has trouble keeping me out of it.

I currently own a 2009 Toyota Landcruiser so no I am not a Toyota basher.

Drive them both, you decide.

The Sonata has heated rear seats - the next Genesis better have them!

Perhaps the new one, but I don't think it's out yet is it?

When I went to the Hyundai Dealer they told me they could not get 2010 Azeras anymore. They hinted that the car might be discontinued.

That would make some sense to me.

Sonata > Genesis > Equus

No real need for an Azera

I kinda agree, but they're making it...

Yes, but it may be a limited market thing. The people at the dealership did not want to say it was discontinued. But, there was a lot of eye rolling and saying that they had no luck getting the 2010 Azera from the Manufacturer. They told me that they did not know the 'future' of this car. They had a couple of 2009 Azeras, and this was in March of 2010.

My sister bought the 2011 Sonata and yes it has rear heated seats but she did need to get the top of the line model for this option. Not bad at all but no where near a Genesis. They only come in 4 cylinder but the 200hp direct injection hauls real good with compact car gas milage. Very nice interior and exterior and worth a look if you are in the market for this type of vehicle.

I usually give a thumbs up to new Sonata's and their drivers. I usually get a thumbs up back! I'm a huge fan of the horizontal lines the Sonata has.

:grouphug: One big happy Hyundai family.
