Luxury brand owner discount

I’m shopping for a 2023 GV70 and visited a dealer yesterday.

I was told that I will get $1,000 discount because I own a Mercedes. Said 2015 or later models of MB, Lexus and BMW also qualify. However as I was about to make a deposit, they said GV70 doesn’t qualify for the rebate and only GV80 does.

Has anyone heard about this? Is this a bait and switch tactic?

I just found out that it is called "Genesis Competitive Owner Coupon"
